@@CrniWuk Yea, but isn't a lot of that knowledge useless? I remember once when Data and Geordi asked Q for help on a problem and he said something along the lines of: 'It's simple. Just change the gravitational constant of the universe.' As a Q he can do that. As a human being, he cannot. The knowledge he possesses can't be applied because the technology mankind has at that point in time is nowhere near advanced enough to pull off something like that, making it useless.

On the science fiction stackexchange site someone calculated an IQ of 2005 needs 10^3505 people on a normal distribution curve to be smarter than. That would be smarter than everything in several universes combined. If the entire universe was reduced to data it would be only 10^400 bits.

Actually that probably true. It is a society with no state no government, based on volunteer labor. So yes, everything would be pretty lux in Starfleet, a volunteer organization witch has some sort of structure only because it operate outside federation.

Loved John de Lancie as Q. Sure he made Q obnoxiously arrogant, but there was always a hint of vulnerability lurking just under the surface and this episode shows it to perfection. He also gave the character a wicked sense of humor as well. Shame de Lancie doesn't get more on screen work, he mostly does voice work now.

We get a rare positive response by Picard to Q. "There is no dignity in this suicide!" I mean, think about it, everything Picard says to Q is dismissive and telling him to go away. But here, we see Picard trying to save Q with an unusually honest comment.

He's not a coward. He is a walking talking Metaphor. For all the children that were never disciplined., I would say they act exactly like him. Except that he is quite intelligent. That's how He differs from the aforementioned children.

Perhaps it seems that way, especially considering the comparison here is the standard set by Picard. But perhaps the bullish gruffness established by Picard invites the metaphor more disciplinarian than warranted. Remember, Q also taught the crew valuable life lessons that ordinarily would be impossible to learn; Picard learned the hard way that “playing it safe” won’t get you anywhere.

Coral Roper the plasma cloud is actually one of many species that Q had tormented in the past and sought to take their revenge against him now that he is no longer Omnipotent. Said cloud was interfering with the Enterprise as its mission at the time was trying to prevent a moon from crashing onto an inhabited world. Q is basically pulling a heroic sacrifice to make sure that the Enterprise succeeds in its mission and doesn't have to suffer from the entities that Q had made enemies with.

I was always annoyed at Riker's expression upon knowing Q was going to sacrifice himself. His annoyed look was not apt for a character who should have shown compassion and appreciation, even to one considered a former enemy/pest. Picard seemed to be the only one concerned for Q's well being.
