did some testing on chokes done this way. the cross over and reverse of windings lowers the choking ability. Best cmc choking was on a 240-31 core with 11 turns all one way gave the best cmc resistance from 1.8 Mhz up above 54Mhz.

I have a 2700 that worked good. I changed my timing chain on my 1982 E150 351 Windsor and it runs good until it gets to 3rd gear at 46 mph, then bogs down badly until it gets down to about 35 mph. I messed with all carb adjustments and it still bogs down. Any ideas what I can adjust?

Is there a reason why you couldnt use the bare copper ground wire in the 14 wire
@ricksshop
@ricksshop 7 күн бұрын
Sure! I did exactly that in the two meter version here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqHMnXR6ibB3bM0 Remember though, with bare copper the velocity factor changes and the wire dimensions will have to be a bit longer.

The average person like myself isn't going to buy a Meter just for a single antenna installation. Great video otherwise. I'm looking to install a simple base antenna for my HT GMRS radios to use once in a while.

Thanks for the video! Not much info out there on these so very helpful! I have one on a pinto engine in a kit car I inherited from my grandfather. It seems to be running ok except sometimes on acceleration the rpms will drop from say 1000 to 300, almost dying but usually coming back up to normal shortly after and accelerating fine. Any idea if that sounds like an issue cause by this carb?

Hi Rick. I bought the same Eling speedometer for my old Honda motorcycle (parts no longer available) and I'm going over the instructions provided and they refer to the trips and COG. Can you tell me what COG means? I really like your instructional video on installing your speedo in your Bronco. Quite informative.

Thanks for the video. Im running one of these on a 460. I've got 67/73 jets in there and a 6.5 power valve. Is there anything I should change here? Maybe bigger jets, and a 8.5/9.0 power valve? I have 19 hg. Should I up the pump cam from green to a bigger one? What about the boosters? Im not getting a 750 or bigger carb. Thanks

It also takes longer for a speaker to burn in / wear in with just voices.a long time. You can always pump some music through them for a few hours. Peace

I cut 18 cm off the antenna, 467 MHZ will have a lower SWR, but 444 MHZ will have a higher SWR. That's a nice, happy middle ground of 1.5 SWR.

Hello Rick, 1.5" is inside or outside diameter? and which type of RG58 did you use?
@ricksshop
@ricksshop Ай бұрын
1.5" is the outside diameter. Velocity factor of coax changes drastically, the first trap will be trial and error.
@vincenzofidanza2539
@vincenzofidanza2539 Ай бұрын
Making the trap and exposing the second part of the shield , you can compress it, when the shield fattens you can insert a small screwdriver or forceps or pick on the side of the shield close to the jacket and inserting this tool about a 1cm or so, then start separating the mesh of the screens revealing the underneath polypropylene central tubing/wire and loop it out making a neat shield and central tube/wire separation
@vincenzofidanza2539
@vincenzofidanza2539 Ай бұрын
Making a physical connection to the trap you add capacitance and lower the frequency. A loop only couples the magnetic field . No connection no extra capacitance.

I use 10ga. And 12ga. Just have to shave a bit in length as diameter increases, the length shortens. Copper pipe jpole is 2" shorter than speaker or house wire.

@ricksshop

Converting may be possible. All of the old mineral oil must be removed, this requires replacing the accumulator/dryer and flushing the system. Most vehicles were on R134 by 1994. Are you sure it's R12?

Very interesting concept. I use Hustlers and have since 1968. I agree with the center loading 100%. One note is my Hustler mast covers 6 meters. I have rarely used six meters but I have resonators for all bands. I will try the parallel coin trick that might be great for POTA operations. Most of the time I am parked when operating. I wonder if you have tried two hustler 54 inch masts to get the length below the coil to 108 inches? I did that once and don’t think I even had to retune the resonator. I have been planning to try that again. 73, N4DJ

Just built this, I set my goal for 146.000, center of the 2m band. I got 1.02 :1 SWR according to my Nano VNA. At 144 I got 1.4:1, at 148 I got 1.6:1. Look below for demensions. I am American but got tired of converting metric to inches so I just went to Lowe's and bought a tape measure that measures standard and metric. My exact measurements were: long leg 145.7 cm , short leg 47.6 cm, feed point 4.9 cm, the gap between short and long leg was 2cm. Pro tip mentioned by someone else was, to straighten your wire before you start, put one end in a vice the other in a drill and hit it, it twists it and makes it incredibly straight.
@kingearwig
@kingearwig Ай бұрын
If you twist it enough it will also work harden the copper too. It will be more rigid. This can be good and bad.

Thank you for your excellent video. However, I have measured carefully and built this antenna 4x now and cannot get good SWR (3+:1). I am using 13' of RG-58 and a HT radio. My thought was I could hoist it up a tree at camp. Any thoughts as to why this isn't working for me? I get longer measurements when I use online calculators.... using VF = .96. Thanks in advance for your consideration! PS--Menards carries the 200 psi PVC...... Home Depot did not.
