The design is reminiscent of the T-800 model from the Terminator franchise. I've always wondered if any Terminator starts to become more "human", graphically it's very beautiful, the animation was good.

I agree 100%! Even though it's impossible to recapture the retro magic of the original series, I think a genuine stylistic tribute to 80s horror TV would be more effective than remaking it for a modern audience. I would love to do it! I've tried to locate the rights holder of TFTD (not that I could afford them) but it seems like a logistical mess. Maybe it'll be tackled someday like Love, Death + Robots and Secret Level. I'm looking at you, Tim Miller and Blur Studio! I appreciate the multiple viewings and the wonderful comment. I have been binging on 80s anthology shows (this, Twilight Zone, Monsters, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, & Crypt of course), and I'm immediately impressed, just by the feel of the recreated intro. This is gonna be good. Comments and spoilers below. -Color palate's excellent. The place _feels_ cold. Unwelcoming and aloof. Judgemental. -The 'rrrrr' of the wheelchair motor adds to the atmosphere. Irritating enough to add tension, but not too distracting. -A tarantula seems a little out of place in North America. ;) -I like that you don't waste time introducing the idea of the monster and its rules. So I just *know* they're gonna be broken. The question is, how? -"You stood right next to me when I made those bets" is a damn good character-building line. What a jerk! -PERFECT bit of visual storytelling: the room full of cleaning supplies, and her expression of, 'I am losing my goddamn mind' when entering. -Mrs. Calloway embodying 'asshole victim'. I didn't think Kat had it in her. -I like the bit of genuine fear in, "You lit a fire?" The story's been told to her enough times, and she's in such a heightened state of fear, it's getting under her skin. -The bit with the hands was understated. Could have gone for a loud jumpscare chord; didn't. Nice. -Tree-tapping on the bathroom window was a good creepy sound effect. -The dressmaking dummy in the attic was a nice touch. Caught it just out of the corner of my eye. 'What was that!?' -And the attic scare keeps it mostly hidden. Again, nice. -Basement's atmospheric AF. I can imagine how much colder than the rest of the house it is. -His sound effects are very good. I might have kept the grin off. An empty expressionless face, keeping him as simply an unknown force of nature, or something mindless conjured from imagination could have been better. -Spray bottle standoff was [chef's kiss] -On second thought, the grin works. After Kat makes her deal, it's like he's thinking, 'Allright. I can respect a fellow monster.' -Mmmm, the dead silence at the end was good, but the sign was a great little cherry on top. EXCELLENT. The effort you put in really shows. I have absolutely seen whole studios make less-polished CGI movies. This was completely worthy of being a real episode of the series! P.S., I did something similarly retro-inspired. If you go to my channel, you might like my Garbage Pail Nightmares.

What an amazing comment, thank you!!! I genuinely appreciate your feedback and the thought you put into this. I'm always interested in hearing from fans of 80s horror anthology shows. It's impossible to recreate the unique feel of those classic programs but that's what made it such a fun challenge. If I owned the rights, I would absolutely animate an entire TFTD season here on KZbin. Rather than trying to modernize it, I think it's more effective this way. I'm thrilled you enjoyed the episode and, again, thank you for taking the time to break down your thoughts. I appreciate it!

@@cinemonstervids "It's impossible to recreate the unique feel of those classic programs but that's what made it such a fun challenge." A big thing that seems to put them apart is just _effort._ They were really trying, and having fun. It's such a contrast to ultra-focus-tested newer entertainment. You cared enough to put effort in. I hope it was fun too. Also, I'm really glad my wordiness helped. I'm a writer myself, so if I'm watching anything, part of my brain is also constantly in the background noticing what works, or doesn't, or what I'd do differently, or blah blah blah. This was so well done. It perfectly emulates the feel of a horror anthology from a pretty great series. I loved it, but I do have notes. Not that I can improve on something so perfect, but if I could? *spoilers* I would have left the ending ambiguous. Linger on that fireplace at the end, let there be some mystery as to if the Soot Man was in there or not. Maybe let Catherine turn her back as the camera pans over her shoulder, and just before the credits roll, then you flash the eyes. Other than that? Perfect.
