Those won't insulate at all unless you cap the ends of the blinds.
@BackroadPurpose8 күн бұрын
The Insulation factor is part of the reflective material in the blinds themselves. The Blinds are designed to hold heat but rather reflect it out.
@ADDvanced8 күн бұрын
@@BackroadPurpose Ah, to reflect heat. Got it. These would do nothing in cold climates. Trying to come up with a better way to insulate my windows; we are at 8k' in the rockies, and it's regularly below zero when we wake up.
@BackroadPurpose8 күн бұрын
@@ADDvanced yeah I’d suggest using a foam board to cover the windows or delete them entirely
@ADDvanced6 күн бұрын
@@BackroadPurpose That's what I do at night, trying to think of an easier solution that could slide up and down though to provide insulation when it's dark. Solar gain during the day is actually really great if it's sunny.

My brother in law past away on August 18th 2024, He has left us with his Schoolie. I gave him hell about it. It was his dream. He an sister have been through the ringer and gotten classified as RV. Walking into it for the first time after his death at the storage unit seeing it gutted to the point where its ready to start putting it together has put a profound amount of honor to be the executor to get this thing done. Knowing that he was so excited about the bus and me eventually warming up to the idea over the last year chatting about it while drinking and hanging out. Knowing its left with this shell has put a fire in me to get this thing done for him. I have been aimlessly flipping through videos wondering how I would do it today trying to get my bearings on this new side quest. How to make it close to his idea. And when I started this video and saw your fender radio on the dash which is the same one he has. I knew I was on the right page. I will email you see if your can help with it. Thanks James.

If I could give one critique, get yourself a wireless mic. Not sure what camera you’re rocking but rode wireless or even the dji wireless should work with it. You're using the wrong formula. You're basing it on the external measurement you took from outside when it should be the measurements based on from behind the driver's seat to the backdoor. The formula is the number of windows by the width of the window by the internal width of the bus. That's the square foot of the bus.
@BackroadPurpose2 ай бұрын
You are partially correct. The formula is the same but the dimensions are wrong. Windshield back is around 24’ so I should have done 7x24 equalling 168 sqft making this minisplit even more overkill lol thanks for pointing it out.
@suzannenoel30782 ай бұрын
@@BackroadPurposeMost would equate the driver's area as dead space unless you're not driving and even then most people don't use it except as a catchall. My question is the water heater. I couldn't make out the name when you mentioned it.
@BackroadPurpose2 ай бұрын
@@suzannenoel3078 two things, I was referring to the minisplit being able to cool the space adequately so the driver area is appropriate within that equation. Second, if you’re thoughtful and clever enough, you can utilize every space. We put a swivel on our driver seat in our bus and included it as a seat for the front living. And the dash was a place to put Marshall speaker. And also a key tray at the front door.
