The vid was good. I'm having the problem with the same door, only mine goes down 4 inches then I hear a gear clicking same sound when the window is up in the closed position. Hopefully mine is the motor. Before it would travel complete in both directions but very slowly. I also have to tell you wish my blue 86, 98 regency broughm looked as good. Mine was severely abused before I got.

I'm confused about air compressors, they tell you tire size rating but the common sense part of my brain says 35 psi is 35 psi. Why is it no good for a 38 inch mud tire at 40 psi but it's ok for a mountain bike tire at 65 psi? Someone please explain
@PostalRedneck
@PostalRedneck 2 сағат бұрын
When ever Im trying to figure something out like that I take it to an extreme to make it easier to understand. An example that could help would be try blowing a basket ball up to 1psi. Now try blowing a wall-mart up to 1psi. Even though both were blown up to 1psi it took more volume to get the wall-mart there thus the compressor would overheat long before it ever got there. It gets even worse as the psi goes up. At 20psi the compressor is working considerably harder thus a 30" tire takes less volume and time to fill over lets say a 40" tire.

Hi, 2000 Silverado is stuck in 4Lo. I tried resetting through uplugging the battery, I unplugged the TC pigtail and even removed the front diff. actuator. Now, its probably out of 4Lo because the front wheels turn more freely, so (mechanically) it may be in 2wd but the ECU probably still thinks that its in 4Lo because it shifts gears like crap. I need to hit 4000 rpm, then let off the gas a bit and it'll shift into 2nd gear, same but not as bad to get to 3rd gear. Maybe the TC shift motor is stuck in 4Lo and the ECU shifts gears differently when in 4Lo. I can't find anybody who's ever driven around in 4Lo at speeds where the tranny will upshift, so I'm at a loss here. Is it normal to shift like that at 4000rpm in 4Lo? Any ideas? Thanks

hey man, this tsb maybe pertains to your problem "Bulletin No.: 03-04-19-004B Date: December 12, 2005 TECHNICAL Subject: Growl or Moan Noise Coming From Front Axle (Replace Front Axle Differential Case) Models: 2003-2006 Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe 2003-2006 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL with 4WD and Active Transfer Case (RPO NP:cool: and 8.25 Inch Front Axle Supercede: This bulletin is being revised to update the model years. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 03-04-19-004A (Section 04 - Driveline/Axle). Condition Some customers may comment on a growl or moan-type noise coming from the front axle above 50 km/h (30 mph). This condition may be described as a noise that phases or cycles in and out. This noise is present in the 2WD mode only, and may be present whether the vehicle is accelerating, decelerating, or at a steady speed. The noise goes away in 4WD or Auto 4WD modes. Cause This noise may be caused by a low clearance condition within the differential in the front axle assembly. In the 2WD mode, the front differential has a large amount of relative motion between the differential pinion and side gears. In the 4WD or Auto 4WD modes, the transfer case motors the front propeller shaft, and the relative motion between the differential gears is reduced or eliminated, so the noise is eliminated. Correction Replace the front differential case, P/N 26018131. This is the component bolted to the ring gear. It is NOT necessary to replace the differential gears unless unusual wear is observed. Use the procedure listed below." "Front Drive Axle Description and Operation Selectable Four Wheel Drive (S4WD) Front Axle Description and Operation The Selectable Four Wheel Drive (S4WD) Front Axle consist of these components: Differential Carrier Housing Differential Assembly Output Shafts (Left and Right Side) Inner Axle Shaft Housing Inner Axle Shaft (Right Side) Clutch Fork Clutch Fork Sleeve Electric Motor Actuator The front axle on Selectable Four Wheel Drive model vehicles uses a central disconnect feature in order to engage and disengage the front axle. When the driver engages the 4WD system, the Transfer Case Control Module sends a signal to the electric motor actuator to energize and extend the plunger inside. The extended plunger moves the clutch fork and clutch fork sleeve across the inner axle shaft and the clutch fork shaft and locks the two shafts together. The locking of the two shafts allows the axle to operate in the same manner as a semi-floating rear axle. A propeller shaft connects the transfer case to the front axle. The differential carrier assembly uses a conventional ring and pinion gear set to transmit the driving force of the engine to the wheels. The open differential allows the wheels to turn at different rates of speed while the axle continues to transmit the driving force. This prevents tire scuffing when going around corners and premature wear on internal axle parts. The ring and pinion set and the differential are contained within the carrier. The axle identification number is located on top of the differential carrier assembly or on a label on the bottom of the right half of differential carrier assembly. The drive axles are completely flexible assemblies consisting of inner and outer constant velocity CV joints protected by thermoplastic boots and connected by a wheel drive shaft ."
@PostalRedneck
@PostalRedneck Ай бұрын
So the fix is to replace the carrier. I thought it would have been the spider gear splines worn out letting the axle move up and down but I suppose the carrier could be worn and allowing the spider gears to move around. Thats a whole lot of work to fix this problem if its true. I have sense scrapped out the truck that was in this video but kept the front diff so I could tear it down and see whats going on. Just need to find time to do it and ill make sure to make a fallow up video for everyone once I do of what my finding are. Thanks for posting this and it kinda sucks that to fix this problem it might cost so much.

@PostalRedneck

The 2-3 solenoid has to be powered on for 1st and 2nd gear. I guess when the computer asks for it to come on and the computer dont see it shift it puts it into limp mode and just holds 3rd. SPRING COMPRESSOR LOCKS-UP Mech Engineer here, it's actually a well designed spring compressor. It's only fault is poor material craftsmanship. The problem is the anti-friction disc has cracked and shredded into pieces. This causes a bind when trying to reverse. To get pass the lockup, grab a steel tubing and insert into one of the handle (cheater bar). Just push down on it and it will break through the jam. My quick fix was I remove the assembly and toss the anti-fiction disc (its not a clutch disc). Replace the disc with a fender washer with about the same size and thickness. Apply some grease to both side of the washer, re-assemble and it be better than new.

I would recommend just taking out the 2 21mm nuts holding the passenger side axle up and see if you can get it to drop down enough to clear. The driver side has rubber bushings in it so you should just have to remove the passenger side hardware. That is if thats the direction it need to go to clear the sway bar.

If you are running 35" tires you need to cut some of the fire wall out to stop them from hitting all the time but they will still hit off roading well turning. There are several different 1500 bars to pick from. There is one set just a little stiffer than the Avalanche torsion bars all the way up to the duramax 3500 torsion bars. I dont recall what ones he installed but they rode just as good as the Avalanche ones so im guessing it was the ones closer to size.

You will have to swap the intakes out as the 01 throttle body is drive by cable and the 05 is drive by wire. If you intend on keeping the EGR you will need to also swap the passenger side exhaust manifold. I would just buy the block off plate for the 01 intake and keep the 05 exhaust manifold as they never had EGR. You will have a check engine light but there are a lot of people who could tune your computer to ignore the EGR and at the same time I would get rid of the security for around $100.

Put some 1/16th x 1/4" weather stripping on the front of the JVC, put the factory "grill" on it, put some more weather stripping on the back of the JVC and put it in the door the same as the factory speaker.
