I'm still not convinced, there's a huge modularity and readability optimisation to the code with the state machine but it also comes with performance and memory loss as the state machine has a loop listener (physics process) and it needs to be hooked on a node as well as all the states. All the benefits without any loss could be achieved with interfaces.... that gdscript simply doesn't have!

Hey Chris, are there any new setup steps for isometric maps? I'm trying to set this up and the placement works but the green indicators are off. If I create a collision polygon that should have the object take up 9 tiles (3x3), only the top 6 tiles (2 rows of 3) are highlighted green while the lower 3 tiles are not highlighted at all. They're not placeable though because I can't place any other objects in any of the 3x3 space once it's occupied. The size and shape is slightly off too I guess since the 2 rows of 3 that are highlighted aren't aligned properly (the top row is a few pixels to the left compared to the middle row). My tilemaplayers use 128x64 tiles if that matters.

Fixed the size and shape issue of the indicator by manipulating the sprite a bit but yeah, not sure about the rest. I have issues with the movement situation too since once I select the object to move, it offsets it and places it askew (not exactly on tiles).

Nevermind, I've figured it out - I was setting the CollisionPolygon2D wrong. Just needed to move it and and sprite around to get things centered.
