This is my second or third Winter with this "snow plow" and it works well after a bit of practice. Much better on frozen ground. There is a surprising amount of slop, or play, in all of the pivot points, and in the cylinder ends (originally, and with very little use so far). And one of the hydraulic hoses chaffs on the frame. I plan to weld a short section of pipe over the chaff point. Hopefully that will prevent more damage.

With any type of exposed fastener roofing system you will want to check the condition of the fasteners annually. The EPDM washer/grommet at the bottom of the screw does have a certain lifespan and if they are over torqued or under torqued they will cause leaking issues. I would also highly recommend using a gutter system to draw water away from the building. Great video and great choice for using metal roofing!

@blunosr Great to hear from you! I watched all your videos from your first to last. I miss Nova Scotia so much. I hail from Halifax but I currently live in Victoria. While I spent more time in the valley but I have been all around the north shore of the Minas Basin. Your videos bring back so many memories. Best wishes to you in 2025!

Does anyone know if the rail system is still active in the area? I left in the 80s and returned briefly in 2021. I know there was a passenger/freight rail system connecting the towns on the northern shore by the Bay of Fundy across from New Brunswick.

The "Valley" as we called it when we were kids, was always a beautiful place. I used to visit Berwick in the summers back in the 80s. It was quite the trip at the time, considering we lived in Dartmouth. Thanks for the memories!

Great little video, which beach is this? Awesome that you drive across Canada regularly. Are you still based in Northern British Columbia? I drove across Canada once, it was a trip of a lifetime. From Victoria to St. John's over a period of 72 days. Epic!

You've been to some awesome places! Obviously you need a serious 4x4 truck to get there. If you don't mind me asking, what kind of rig do you have to get around Northern British Columbia? Any specific lift or tire you use?

It is a sad thing for sure. Back in 2021 I was travelling across the country, from Victoria to St. John's and I visited my home province of Nova Scotia. I seen abandoned buildings, poor infrastructure and a lack of community support for the essentials. That is the way of life in Atlantic Canada, and one of the reasons I had to move to a province with better employment opportunities. It is still a beautiful place to be, and despite the economic and developmental challenges, I would gladly retire there. Either on Cape Breton Island or around Bonavista in Newfoundland.
@travelexperiencedevoyage3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately this is not likely to happen without increasing taxes. I agree with you though, but Atlantic Canada will likely never become as prosperous as it was back before the 70s/80s. Also, most people focus on the major cities like Halifax.

The attachment spot is too high. Puts too much stress on the plow bracket, I’m worried it’s going to bent too easy. When I put blade down to plow snow it won’t go back enough and blade digs in too much.

Yeah, I have that same problem. After the ground freezes, and with a bit of practice, it does a very nice job. I might move the shoes/skids down a bit.

I’m planing on doing a metal roof on our awning just like yours. We have the same frame structure. How is yours holding up? Also, does the metal make it overly hot under the awning? What’s your experience when it rains or hails? Anything you would do differently?
@blunosrАй бұрын
Hi, it is holding up very well. Even in hurricane winds. All that bracing, and hurricane straps keep it rock steady in heavy wind. Not overly noisy in rain, kinda nice actually. It gets cold here (Canada) and I find that it gets condensation on the bottom side of the metal, when snow is on it and the temperature rises. The snow does slide off fairly easily, even with 2/12 pitch.

Hi again, You can also go up a Toothe on the front Sprocket to a bigger one. That takes care of the First Gear issue and you don’t really lose any Top End Speed.

How does it tilt for ditching?
@blunosrАй бұрын
It doesn't.
@blunosrАй бұрын
Ok, I see what you mean. It isn't really tilting left and right. I curled it back as far as I could with the bobcat, so the frame isn't vertical. Then when I turn it right or left, one corner of the blade is a bit lower than the other. I suppose you could use that to crown a road, but it's also useful when plowing snow. That keeps it from digging in as bad.
