Also, found my nest of salt...Lithium? I can imagine with his money he may have been prescribed this Rx. Coincides with a song of his, regardless of him being publically diagnosed. Meds and MH diagnoses have always carried a negative stigma. Why else would he admit this.

The first theory that I heard about this was the Angela Bowie one mentioned here. But then someone told me their theory, which is that Angie was actually Bowie himself, with the "there ain't a woman that comes close to you" line being a clever way of covertly referencing a gay affair. I kind of bought that, but it still seemed kind of off. Then when I heard that Angie was actually heroin, then it all finally clicked. He loves the heroin more than anything, even a woman, but he sees how it's destroying him, and how there's no future in being a junkie. He's tried the life of addiction, and it was a form of death. So he chooses to be alive instead. And that feels good.

I saw " Welcome to My Nightmare" tour 1975. It was at the Garden. A photo taken was used as a poster for Circus mag. A tshirt cost $3.00 and they didnt frisk you for bottles😊 BTW- Schools Out LP became a desk. Muscle of Love was in a cardboard box. Vinyl- yeah!!!!! 10:05

Idiot drones may sni gger but the Artists of the 60's and 70's tapped into something. Some form of immortality until the next wave of the coming age. Contempt for them is less than meaningless. Merry Christmas to all the Hags worldwide May you get the Christmas you deserve.

And yes there was Magic then, and as for Commercialization, Charlie Brown first told us in 65'. As stated so well in The Polar Express, the sound of the Bell faded over the years until only he could hear it, perhaps some still can and I envy them...

I saw John Cafferty and the band at the Tampa Theatre after the movie came out. 100+ concerts later that was still the best show I have ever attended. It was like a 1950’s rock show with people dancing in the aisles. 20 years later I got to see them again at Beaver Creek in Colorado, still great!

Massive oversight: no mention of David Briggs who cleaned up the sound after that first album and shaped Neil’s sound thereafter. He is responsible for the Neil Young we know and love.

The outro/ final chorus, almost sing in a round, where one is singing surrender against other singing mommies alright is insanely brilliant, no pop song since has had this competing yet complimentary vocals occurring simultaneously…….what a fantastic way to end the song

Every since I heard Sammy tell the story of Eddie calling him down to his hotel room at some ridiculous hour in the morning because he had come up with 5150... Eddie started the intro, and right where you think he might, Sammy went to come in with vocals. Eddie, "Not yet," and he kept playing. Sammy waits, then... Eddie, "Not yet," and he keeps playing. Sammy says it happened one or two more times before it was ACTUALLY his time to come in, and when I heard him tell the story, he was laughing about how, as he said, "Eddie likes these LONG intros..." (Just think about that intro to 5150 and I bet you can visualize the whole thing!) Every since I heard that story, I'm so DELIGHTED when one of the Sammy era tunes with a long intro comes on! It makes me smile! This one, more than any of them, probably... because it DOES go on!! Anyway... LOVE this song! LOVE this band!

Lifelong fan of Bob Seger since I was about 8 or 9 when my much older brother allowed me to play his Night Moves album on repeat. Bought that album and all his others after that and was a massive fan. I really commend your writing prowess Janda. It's always spot on, and written with the high end clarity and insightfulness of some of the top writings I've seen in music magazines. You don't just give a summary, but you provide actual insight and clarity when you summarize in a way that surprises even a fan like me, having listened so some of these songs thousands of times. Great work!
