Do your mother-daughter trauma friendship triggers make you push your friends away or draw co-dependently close to them?

I was directed to your page by a friend who’s been following you on Instagram. I love your candidness about your mother daughter trauma. I too made a choice to choose peace and denounce my mother. I am one of 12 children, it’s 8 girls and 4 boys. My mom was physically and mentally abusive to all of her children but she was so swift to her daughters. Many of my siblings have gone no contact after years of begging, hoping, wishing and praying she would change. I to made the choice to go no contact. My time away from my mom has been the best ever. My life and the lives of my siblings that denounce her is healthier than the ones who still seek love and validation from her. Please keep sharing and freeing women from these emotional strong holds and curses. Thank you so much for the work that you do. May God continue to bless you.

If you allow me to critique the video: Narcissism encompasses all the rest, it's better to leave that one out, and maybe put ego in instead. Yaknow, leave it up for speculation instead of just giving the answer. Besides the content, best of luck! I know it's hard. Sincerely -A narcissistic abuse survivor

As someone who had to do something similar (never suffered physical abuse, but there were PLENTY of reasons to do this), I know how hard it is to cut off the woman who birthed you. That's what she is. Mother is a sacred term, and should be reserved for those deserving of it. I wish you the best, and urge you to stay strong, and enforce your boundaries. Blessings to you, and those around you.

Dr. Dylesia, what a wonderful topic, and congratulations on successfully defending your dissertation and earning your doctorate. Yes, publish the book, because there just aren't many voices speaking to this experience from an African American perspective.

What kind of boundaries do you need to set with your mom?
@drdylesia5 ай бұрын
Heyyy Sistagirl!! 😛👋🏾 It’s my first vlog and I'm sooo excited! 😩😭 As you watch, comment below letting me know what we have in common! 🧡 Many of us were groomed by our moms to believe that we’re too flawed for community. The only way to reverse that conditioning is to push ourselves to build community, and the first step to building community is getting into the practice of looking for similarities between ourselves and others instead of differences. Sooo, I figure, since you're creating a new habit of finding things you have in common with other women, you might as well start with your Sistagirl 😌🙆🏾♀🫶🏾 Let’s gooo!!! 💪🏾 🎉
