I'm thinking they are both originals. The resale shop one looks like an older model and the label being misaligned doesn't really mean much if you've ever worked manufacturing. There are tolerances and it depends really on what QC is working that shift that let that batch out the door. Also I think the older one is messing up because it's old and used and I bet if you open it up there are probably at least two capacitors that are leaking. Common problem on most electronics... especially ones like gaming systems that stay on for sometimes weeks at a time and suffer more heat than it can dissipate. Also check the heat sinks while your checking the caps. They might need to be repasted/stuck to whatever processor they are attached to. The slowdown on the audio and then later loss of sound channels tells me it could be heat related, capacitor related or has corrosion from a spill that got inside it or one of the blown capacitors if you do indeed find one. I would open it up and check all of the above and then give it a good cleaning with some 90% rubbing alcohol.

I have the kinetic 80 and I’m not sure if it’s the skate or if I have ankle pronation but my left ankle is always out. The stock wheels were terribly soft. They were cheap skates to try skating with my kids. I’m looking at those rollerblade lightnings or some flying eagles.

I first trought it was from a space invaders hardware. Like if they had to moddifie the donkeykong source to make it work on such infirior hardware. But if it turns out to be based on a bootleg from another bootleg system, then we can assume that those bootleg systems being based on each other or waaay more infirior hardwarewise then the space invaders hardware i suppose, mmmm.

If you read reviews on them many of those surge protectors can only take one surge, but certain brands like Ditek can take multiple surges. The problem with single surge device is if you get a lighting strike on a wire mile or two down the road it surges the protector blows the MOV's. If you get a 2nd surge after that you have no protection because the surge protector is done you see the red light says it's faulty. Even the single surge devices like the Square D are better then no protection.

Excellent video but by the end of this video I was screaming at you to keep the camera still and quit blocking the view with your damned gorilla hands. However, that being said, between this and the reddit thread I was able to get Phantasy Star going so thank you for posting. I found the mapper very difficult to desolder, so on my second attempt, I didn't remove it. Two of the pins (13 and 14) are floating in the circuit anyway. 12 and 15 just need their traces cut. It's a little harder to cut the large trace on pin 25 but I think easier than removing the custom chip, bending legs, and resoldering while praying you didn't damage it.

Interesting, I have a Made In Taiwan model Genesis 3-button controller without the red letters, and it has the ball bearing in the D-pad membrane. So maybe it depends more on when it was made, rather than where. (I guess it's also possible someone swapped the parts)

Skater with 8 pairs of high quality skates here (I do "Wizard skating"): The K2 are recreational soft boots with little support. The Lightning are hard shells with good support. The next tier is the Twister XT, FRX/1/2/3 or Powerslide Next. My advice before going on a buying spree. Do not buy Tri Skates, skip that, they're out of fashion because 3 wheels are not good for reasons I'm not explaining here. 4x80 or 4x90 if you're a tall person. Do not overtighten the 45deg strap, is only to keep your ankle in place. The support is in the shell + the cuff. Anyway, the Lightnings are great and I don't really think you need anything better unless you take it very seriously.

If you ever give the soft boot another go, try focusing your foot postion in towards your big toe and second toe to help increase your ankle usage. Maybe that would help with the falling outward- soft boots are notorious for having low ankle support. Another trick is that you get longer laces and wrap them around your cuff tight for extra support; they're lowkey beginner/returning user friendly.

As the author of the post you're referencing, sorry it is pretty rough. I found someone on the Internet selling repros using this method (for a hefty price) and was able to reverse engineer what they did by looking at a few blurry photos on their site. I did not fully understand the process at the time, (I had mostly worked on Genesis and SNES repros) but it worked and I wanted to share what I learned with anyone interested. I'm glad it was enough to get a working copy on your shelf. Thanks for making this video and increasing the visibility of my post, rough as my post may be. Who knows, maybe it'll help someone else someday?

I’ve been rolling on the same pair of K2 FIT BOAs since 2016 and love them dearly. K2 makes some quality stuff. Regardless of brand, don’t go cheap. Such a bummer that was your experience though man. Glad you grabbed a new pair to keep rolling.
