If you read reviews on them many of those surge protectors can only take one surge, but certain brands like Ditek can take multiple surges. The problem with single surge device is if you get a lighting strike on a wire mile or two down the road it surges the protector blows the MOV's. If you get a 2nd surge after that you have no protection because the surge protector is done you see the red light says it's faulty. Even the single surge devices like the Square D are better then no protection.

you should install that at the very top of the panel.. so it protects everything "downstream"or below it

Well, at least you did not blow yourself up.

My thoughts exactly. Sort of picked about the worst place possible. At least give the unit a better chance of working.

It ended up not being compatible and I got the right one, lol I haven't up it in yet
