I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply. He was my uncle and my mum was there too. I hope that he gave you as many wonderful experiences as he did for us. He was an extraordinary man. I would dearly love to see the film and I would like to know how you knew him

@@dinoflix I'm really a friend of Dennis Leon who, incidentally, I cannot locate in Edgbaston, as his phone isn't functioning. Is Dennis still alive!?? I owned a bookshop in Harborne & specialized in Art etc, so met Jim there. I'm a painter also & own a gallery in Dolcedo Italy called Art of the Thunderbolt. I've met many of the Leons. I own Jim's painting The Strand I purchased in the 80s.

You can find my art gallery by going to Dolcedo Art of the Thunderbolt on KZbin [= 3 shorts] + The Lost Genius ETC. The film of Jim's wake has never been edited but when it is I'll connect it to your site. There are also 3 films called Jim Overbeck explains his art 1 & 2 & 3. Cheers!

Personally, if they can restore Castle Howard(A building that was also damaged extensively by fire in 1940) after a devastating fire, so can Witley Court. I feel that it's dumb to keep the building a ruin any more than Riber Castle, which now has a roof and is being restored back into a home. Sooner or later, Witley Court will be restored back into a home once again. Even if it take decades to complete like Castle Howard and Riber Castle.

It was in 1971 when I first saw Witley Court. We were planning to have a concert in Witley Church and after lying on my back to admire the ceiling for something like an hour I went and wandered round the house which, to be honest, was in a dangerous state. I was stunned then and I still am. Wasn't a fountain offered to Worcester City Council to go on the roundabout by the cathedral?

I don't think they actually get that many visitors to be honest. I often think there is something intrinsically romantic about it's ruins that leaves us imagine what it may have been like in it's glory days. I used to go there a lot as a teenager and often we were the only ones there. The grand old ruin brought us a lot of happy memories and the experience of our very own ghost story!

It is a pity there is not a restoration of this great place. As a foreigner I wonder why they do not use money taken from visitors to do so.

We don't get much sun here, and we certainly get a lot of rain but rarely snow, so you can imagine my delight when it I woke up to find this. How about seeing some films from around your neck of the woods?

@Flamorgan That's really interesting. You should really speak to the Ulster Museum about that as they're actually going to rewrite the iron age history based on the Roman Brooches. I've found bits and pieces all around there including some nice flints. It would be interesting to know what the water levels were around that time. My daughter has made some good videos of Nendrum and other places around the Lough. Her channel is Lahtravels.

@MrRevolver101 Thanks Hugh. In the twenty years I've lived here it has never snowed as much as it did last Christmas. To the right of the picture by the coast on 0.37 we found a 1st century Roman military brooch. It was about 7 years ago now but it was identical to two others found on the north coast. It seems they came here after all!

@akenderes Thank you for your comments, it took me a while to remove all the shakes as the little camera I used didn't have a stabiliser, but your appreciation made it worth the effort.
