Dear sambon, I am 37 now before 3years saw your videos . Even I don't know about ITF at that time but ur techniques are interesting. I show ur videos to my kids who are practicing karate. Thanks for the recommendations, it shows you're above and beyond martial arts techniques, you seek to improve overall well being and spiritual development. Thanks for your guidance. Oss.

Great comment/explanation Carl. Thanks. I take the opportunity to ask you: Im 57 years old, started Karate 7 years ago and after discipline and continuous training recently obtained my Shodan level. Have you seen older students able to really master kicks? Kicks are my weakness so your input/advice is highly regarded. Thanks for your amazing tutorials, they inspire me to train.Regards. Javier

Great work! The only thing to say is that,in TKD ITF, there are different frontal kicks depending on the intention: Snapping: apcha busigui Hitting: apcha jirugi Penetrating whith the heel: apcha tulgi Pushing: apcha milgi

I was supecting that you would say smt like that. 😊It totally resonates with me. Unfortunately, I found my way to martial arts only a year ago at 47. But it hit me like a dump truck. I was never keen on "working out", I still am not. But training?! YAAAASSS! I am hooked on it. To monitor potential 🤭 progress, I tape the personal training sessions so I can recap what I need to work on. There is a whole lot of work ahead of me, and I am going to LOVE every single second of it - once my doc gives me the good news that my achilles tendon is not ruptured. 🤞🤞🤞

This new one has me ranting, it blew my mind and share on every opportunity. It's titled “Myths and blind spots in the fighting arts’ world.- After the Bible, it’s the next gοοd bοοk for you! The guy exposes money making businesses that offer no real self-defense, ridiculous competitions that martial artists partake in, instructors that care only about their tradition and not about students bein safe, he shows that God in the Bible is not against violence and self-defense training as many think, he shows why most drills and sparring are constructed in a wrong way, he talks about understanding the brain and its physics, about urgency and intention and the element of surprise and escape, he exposes Wing Chun in detail but also gives sound solutions to everything and so much more mind blowing stuff all packed together in 240 pages. All practitioners should read it, many instructors however may hate it. It’s titled. If you ever read it, let me know if you agree with me that it's one of a kind. Thanks.

While not specifically about martial arts, you might add Stretching Scientifically by Thomas Kurtz to your list of top books for martial artists; having watched some of your videos I can see that you mightn't need his advice but it has proven to be incredibly helpful to many of us mere mortals who are trying to get a bit better at our kicks... And it is probably a bit more practical and less philosophical than some of the titles you mentioned.

Hello Van Roon, I think ur an amazing teacher and martial artist. I am aware that you have been involved in training some MMA/ufc fighters and thats quite amazing seeing TKD transfer over to other sports etc. It would be nice to see some more content on youtube... I notice ur shorts/tik tok clips on my facebook which i dont have regular access to. Could you maybe post some shorts or here or something to keep the channel fresh...

Hi Van , I am revising my martial arts kicks , Your classes are very good thank you . I have Arthritis in my left hip which is manageable with proper stretching and warm ups . I do your egg beating exercise and also a sit on bum with knees pointing up Then fold knees to left n floor , knee to heal and visa versa . Do you have any more for strengthening the hips ! Kind regards Emmet
