As the native English speaker, You prounounce Japanese and Korean terms very well! I like it -) Also I like that You are working in several branches of Martial Arts, - such as Traditional Taekwondo or ITF, and You know WTF way too, Traditional Karate and the ways I call Rebellious Karate = Kyokushin, Ashihara, Oyama, Kudo, Muay Thai and Kickboxing, Boxing, and so on. This is great diversity. I am doing the same way. =) Originally I am Taekwondo ITF practitioner since 1990.

Yes! HAHA rebellious Karate is a great way to describe it! When I first began training I didn't even realise that was what I was learning! Thank you also for your praise as to my pronunciation. I try! Thanks for your message my friend.

Totally. It's amazing how those lightweight Thai fighters can throw around heavier opponent's with timing and leverage. It's awesome.

Van Roon Martial Arts yes that’s why works so great,even little guys can do it,saenchai amazing at it,there’s video big ufc guy getting thrown around by them,I personally think it’s brilliant weapon against boxers,as they need to plant feet to get power in there punches,and as a southpaw it’s easy to do against orthodox fighter as feet right next to each other,do you fight in side stance ?,
@TaekCns3 жыл бұрын
Very much enjoyed the video. Most detailed and comprehensive tutorial I've ever come across on the sweep technique. The analogy about stepping off a sidewalk with regards to timing is great. Another way I think of the timing is- when the foot is fully committed to the floor but not yet stabilized by the floor.

one detail is that when you hook if possible pull the leg to reduce adding momentum to the leg which can help the opponent to turn and follow up with a spinning punch or kick. Great video btw

Have you already testing sweep with a person able to lift his weight on 1 leg? í like the strategies behind it, i will try to fit it for myself. ;) thank you Van!
@VanRoonMartialArts5 жыл бұрын
Yes. There are multiple options. If you can anticipate which leg they are going to lift, you sweep out the remaining supporting leg. Another option is to get the person to stand one legged and then follow-up with other strikes while his / her balance is compromised. You are most welcome :D

As an Ashihara Karate practitioner, why did you quit Ashihara?
@VanRoonMartialArts5 жыл бұрын
I still train in Karate and I still teach Karate. As for Ashihara, when Hideyuki Ashihara passed away and his son Hidenori was looking to take over, the Karate organisation I was training with chose to affiliate with a different organisation.

KidCrowder No problem! Also if you want moves to train for self-defence I’d look at the UFC ban-list as those are the things deemed to dangerous to do in a cage (everything else is perfectly fine making the moves “less dangerous”), one move is the sprawl combined with the 12 to 6 elbow as it shuts down most grapplers.
@KidCrowder4 жыл бұрын
unless am acting a movie, everything else I want to end a fight in seconds....would you recommend any good channel for the UFC ban?
@jayhockley88412 жыл бұрын
I have used low kicks / foot sweeps very succesfully in self defence aka " Street fights " . Most bullies do not expect it and can seldom recover from it or defend against it I find when used in combination with a feigned Roundhouse punch (which tends to put your adversary's focus higher up ) a strong low kick to their ankle comes as an unwelcome surprise . I once took down an aggressor that outweighed me by over 100 lbs , with 2 low sweep kicks to his ankle .
