Thank you so much for posting these videos. You're making me want to choose learning Judo over jiu-jitsu. Sadly, there aren't enough Judo schools around me.

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, there is definitely a high level of skill in both arts. I used to do both and for me there was something I enjoyed about judo a bit more in that it seemed like win or lose no one cared or felt like they were working their way to the UFC. It seemed more like an excellent hobby whereas in BJJ I always felt had a hyper competitive vibe which is fine too but for me these were hobbies so judo seemed like a better fit although in other countries I think it's different.

Yes, in judo if you're good or bad, there doesn't seem to be a pecking order. Unlike when I was training BJJ. In judo they were just happy you were there.

They agreed upon the rules and the scoring beforehand but I don't know the details.

About 15 years ago the Olympics stopped allowing them for a more traditional Japanese judo which is what we see in competition today.

El jiujitsu brasileño ni pelea,ni deja pelear,si se le hubiera permito al luchador sambo usar las técnicas de golpea de ese arte no sé donde se hubiera metido el competidor de jiujitsu. Saludos!

Não tem sentido algum o lutador de jiu-jitsu lutar nessas regras do sambo, toda vez que ele encaixa uma posição o árbitro separa e reinicia a luta em pé!

Não tem sentido nenhum o lutador de jiu-jitsu se submeter a essas regras do sambo, quando o jiu-jitsu inicia uma tomada de posição o.lutador de sambo sai correndo do tatame e a luta se inicia de pé, no centro do tatame, se fosse em uma competição de jiu-jitsu o lutador seria desclassificado ao fugir do tatame. O sambo conta ponto a queda, no jiu-jitsu o principal é a finalização no chão, se o atleta de sambo pode sair correndo da finalização saindo do tatame e não é penalizado por isso, a luta não tem sentido para o lutador de jiu-jitsu

Tá de sacanagem! As regras prejudicam TOTALMENTE o atleta de jiu-jitsu! Toda vez que ele tenta colocar uma chave o atleta de Sambo sai correndo do tatame e a luta tem que iniciar em pé, essas regras são TOTALMENTE desvantajosa para o jiu-jitsu, que busca a finalização e não somente a queda! Para o jiu-jitsu a verdadeira luta começa no chão! Se o outro atleta estivesse nas regras do jiu-jitsu seria desclassificado por fugir da chave saindo do tatame! Não tem sentido nenhum um atleta de Jiu-jitsu se submeter a essas regras! Se o sambo quer lutar nessas condições, que vá enfrentar atletas de judô!

@@sebozz2046 Dude is a robber so I would think that was already established. Train some knife fighting and you will see what's between the legs doesn't matter. Someone with serious training man or women should have no problem dealing with someone without. Otherwise martial arts would be a scam.

Actually it was on neutral ground. Team BJJ and Team Sambo both won close to the same amount of matches. When I posted these all those years ago from Georgian TV it was because originally BJJ people were posting only matches where BJJ won which I imagine you can still find today.

@@albertocardoza56 It wasn't at a sambo club. The matches had clear rules both parties agreed to and BJJ won half.

@@albertocardoza56 As someone who trained both the outcome was as expected. BJJ has it's specialized areas as does sambo. Obviously when you compete at a venue like this you will be taken to pla outside of your comfort zone.

BJJ will lose here because they base the fight on Sambo standards lol but it was clear the BJJ guy dominated the fight. The Sambo guy couldn’t even make any dominant moves. His back was always grabbed and gotten by the BJJ guy.

If I remember correctly both teams did very well without one dominanting the tournament. When I put these up the BJJ forums were posting videos only when BJJ won.

Bjj is not gonna beat that ease, brow. The only reason that bjjs don't actually won more was because that sambo rules of always interrupt the fight...
