stop kidding me, on the ghettos you have guns and knives, no one fights anymore, guns are cheapers than food. so yes, BJJ is useless, you're not fighting on a soft spot, it's concrete or dirt. BJJ seems amazing on the UFC but in a real fight, wrestling and BJJ are helpless. that's why martial artits despise Krav Maga, it's not really a martial art, but it's a military system that can actually save your life
@graciederangementsyndrome366910 жыл бұрын
Carlos Chaves Stop buying into the krav marketing hype. Krav is a marketing machine that uses brainwashing propaganda and scare tactics to lure people in. The "fact" that it's a military system doesn't mean shit since most martial arts can trace their roots to military application and martial arts are only invested about 5% of the time in training. BTW the US military implemented BJJ starting in the mid-90s since the military was "watching too much UFC." So look who's talking

I shall make this clear for everyone who is stuck on this "Versus" confusion... This is NOT "Russian Sambo vs. Brazilian Jiu-jitsu" but a sport which has fully separate rules from Sambo and BJJ, therefore, you might calls this Sambo BJJ. As soon as a Martial Art changes the rules of it's engagement, then the Martial Art also changes it's practice. Example, you cannot say "Tenis vs Hockey" when the match has the rules of both, that would be a different sport.

Well, daki age isn't removed from judo competition entirely. You are allowed to lift your opponent, but you are not allowed to slam him. Instead, when you lift your opponent fight stops and restarts in standing potion. It's pretty clear why. If you can lift someone, you can slam them, so there's no need to injure them by finishing the slam. If BJJ guys don't want to be slammed, but want a more realistic combat rules, they could implement this competition rule.

He beat Nog twice, and Nog's BJJ is ranked on the same level as Werdums. Fedor simply made a fetal mistake, which he will never make again. BJJ is good but it's not a all-around martial art.... the whole thing of "pulling guard" is the biggest joke in martial arts. Try pulling guard in a street fight, you end up slammed or kicked in the face.

I am currently a purple belt in Bjj and also just got shodan in Judo(1st degree black belt)! I'm not saying the guard doesn't work. If someone punches u in the face or hits a double leg takedown and puts u on your back then the guard is a good option. But if your plan is 2 get a guy 2 the ground by jumping 2 your back (while standing over concrete mind you) u will probably get yourself hurt. With the back of your head on the ground + gravity a persons punching power is nearly doubled.not good

@m.s.nicotdiinc.76457 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that traditional jiu-jitsu wasn't designed for street fights. Although there is a style of jiu-jitsu commited to resolve that kind of brutal conflict, it's completely diferent from the one taught in most jiu-jitsu gyms. Rener Gracie and his brother did a video adressing just that. "Well, but those jiu-jitsu fighters knew that they were going to match an opponent who'd use a more ruthless approach than the one they're accostumed with. How come that guy didn't see that slam comming? Shouldn't he know how to prevent that?" I'm pretty sure that every fighter there got acquainted with all the rules, including the forbbiden submission, transitions and so forth... That being said, by the time the Sambo fighter brought his opponent upwards, the BJJ fighter wasn't at all expecting such a turn of events, knowing that a slam on the ground was prohibited. So much so that the referee interfered the fight and declared the Russian's stunned opponent the victorious, right after his relentless move. "But why didn't he interfered when the man was already up in the air? Wouldn't that alone be a hint of what would happen shortly after?" Not really... That also happens in jiu-jitsu matches. It's usually a way to frustrate an overpowered closed guard fighter, I suppose. You can also see lots of BJJ fighter jumping and locking his guard around the opponent's waist. Check the whole video, you'll see what I'm talking about.

I think that the point is that since it is illegal, you wouldn't be expecting to have to prepare to be slammed.
@pcjudosambo14 жыл бұрын
@EvilGblackplague I agree with you on the part the BJJ players don't do well in Judo because in Judo it's easier to lose than in BJJ (throw, pin, submission, points like yuko, etc) in BJJ you only lose by submission or points. A judoka has MORE of a chance to win in BJJ then BJJ in Judo. A judoka may not be at the highest level of submissions for a BJJ comp BUT a judoka is good with throws, pins and avoiding submissions which can be used for stalling. That's why wrestlers like Kerr win ADCC.
@uchimataleao13 жыл бұрын
@Voodoofreak35 You do understand that slams were illegal for this tournament? Either player could have easily punched the other in the face knocking them out, but don't because its against the rules and the other player consequently does not defend against such techniques.

Old Gracie Jiu Jitsu matches were anything goes. Over time, slams were not allowed- Sport BJJ begins.. I was taught to ALWAYS open guard, and hook the leg with an arm ;or for a sweep so that slam would never happen . Spots are sports. This match represents that. Old GJJ guys laos did much more transition to ground things than these days. But al lot of that has to do with liability laws.

Jigaro Kano developed Judo from aspects of bujitsu(the warrior ways) to include Jujitsu and I've even read that he got throwing techniques from Karate Jitsu.("Jitsu" being war style and "Do" embodying the modern concept that you didn't have to always kill your opponent).A Russian agent took Judo and mixed Wrestling.

I respect BJJ, and I agree that it is probably the most superior martial art, but giving up dominant positions that easily should not be in anybody's game plan. Being on your back is not good. The Gracies were undefeated for so many years, but they understood that they shouldn't be on their back in MMA or even grappling rules.
