As a sixty year old pasty white chick (and scientist, not historian), I know very little about rap. While LMM’s use of rap made this piece of history accessible to a younger generation, in contrast, it made rap accessible to ME! I love your insight and metaphors so much that I plan to find your music and explore to learn more about that!

Hercules Mulligan being a spy is only part of it - Hamilton set up an entire spy network in New York, and around the occupied areas.

The "How does" motif isn't necessarily Hamilton's theme, but more the "plot exposition" theme. If they need to explain a mysterious gap in time, they do it with that one.

Redcoats is a very common term for the British Infantry of the time. The reason why they are red coloured is not do to with hiding blood or being more intimidating...it was literally the cheapest dye, Calico Red, in London when the British Infantry was reformed and new unforms were commissioned.

All of us knowing what was to come; watching walk this path to Say No To This...just delicious. Your head bopping to the music and then froze at the line "...let her legs spread and said..." the sadist in all of us just feeling whatever this emotion is called. The Germans probably have a term for it. But yeah, your shock, frustration, anger, disbelief- *chef's kiss*

Historical note: This is one of the areas where Miranda played fast and loose with history - Angelica was already married to a rich, but boring, banker by the time this happened. So she wasn't necessarily as ready to run off with Hamilton as the song makes out.

You are adorable. Great reactions. Been loving them. I saw Hamilton in Chicago with my (now) ex-wife the day before I found out she was having an affair. Been hard to engage with the show since then. But I appreciate your honest break downs, and yeah… cheating is not okay. Sometimes it helps when other people say that too.

👑plus a 🐦🔥and 🦁. I was going to do phoenix and lion both as a bonus for your music that is now starting to get stuck in my head and in "rebellion" against your comment about the older people who can't find emojis, and then my phoenix copies into a separate bird and fire. Not sure what to think of that but this 50+ watcher has enjoyed this series and is looking forward to the rest.

In my defense I have gotten quite a few comments about people not being able to find the crown emoji 😭 Love that you flexed on me with all of the emojis though! Also yes I hate how youtube turns the phoenix emoji in to 2 separate emojis

👑 bruuuuhhhh I feel like I need to apologize for taking so long to comment, I usually watch these within 2h of dropping. I have way too much to say, which is probably why I have been enjoying your reactions so much. I feel your need to pause and process constantly super relatable, and I love love love the honesty and vulnerability that you react with. It draws me in and ... in the least weird way possible ... makes me feel protective of you because you're so deeply invested. (What can I say, I have a massive maternal streak). I knew how upset this episode was going to make you and I'm surprised that you have been taking shit in the comments regarding your stance on loyalty and cheating. I admire your consistent stance and that you feel it's a priority for you. I don't react as strongly for a number of reasons - partially because I'm jaded and less emotionally invested than you - but I don't see that as a weakness and I love hearing your perspective even though it differs from mine. I do admit that I spend a lot of time outright CACKLING at you when you get so upset, but it's only because you're hilarious and I knew it was coming. I still empathize with your position! I also talk back to you constantly while the video is playing - mostly like "bruuuuhhh" .. and "oh shit, just wait till that particular prophecy comes to light" etc. Anyway. enough rambling. I just really appreciate these and want to provide support by ensuring engagement. Don't take shit for being true to yourself. I am still with you on this emotional journey and even when I'm laughing my ass off at your emotional distress, I empathize and support you.

Hahah no need to apologize Sara! I'm glad I was able to still see your comment (as you can see the comment section has filled up quickly on this one). "I feel your need to pause and process constantly super relatable, and I love love love the honesty and vulnerability that you react with" Thank you, that really means a lot! 🥹 I try my best to be authentic while also being engaging & informational " in the least weird way possible ... makes me feel protective of you because you're so deeply invested. (What can I say, I have a massive maternal streak)" I don't think this is weird at all. I feel protective of you guys as well & I'm glad the feeling is mutual. "I'm surprised that you have been taking shit in the comments regarding your stance on loyalty and cheating" You will never believe how many people were VERY angry that I implied Alex cheating with his sister in law would be a bad thing during part 4! I was like WHAT!?!? There are people mad at me AGAIN for this video as well as if I haven't shown at EVERY opportunity my stance on cheating! 😭 "I also talk back to you constantly while the video is playing" I really talk to you guys like you're right here with me and we're all just talking about it together then have to remember you guys can't answer right away lol.

I was actually dreading your getting to this part, because I knew how you would react. Personally, when I first listened to the album my daughter was in the next room (she had already seen the show) and I kept going into her room and reacting to the various songs. On "No to This" I just HOWLED I was so pissed/upset and she knew immediately what I was listening to and rushed in to console me.

Lin Manuel Miranda has said, he was on vacation, reading the biography of Hamilton by Ron Chernow, and realized that Hamilton's story is a classic hip-hop story. Also, Miranda has said that each character has a deliberately different style of rap/hip-hop.

Lots of comments so may have been said before now but a few more fun facts on Take a Break. 17:00 Inside of the sisters naming themselves “Angelica, Eliza…..the Schuyler Sisters” they leave two beats of silence in the vocal for “and Peggy” because in the timeline Peggy had died. A small non-shoutout. 18:40 Secondly, when they both start singing at Alex, Angelica quotes Macbeth again with “screw your courage to the sticking place” from early in the play as they plan the murder of the King. 18:59 Finally, as they are both singing to him holding his hands in the final chorus, both making their cases, you can hear the Helpless motif and the Satisfied motif both being played in the accompaniment. Even when pointed out, it was hard for me to hear but keep listening, it’s there. Also, your anger at Alex is 100% justified. Just you wait…

I am a professsional lurker, but I had to break my pattern to tell you that I love your reactions, you're so entertaining and genuinely hilarious! And I love your love of Hamilton so far, as a Hamilfan it made me so happy when you broke into the Schuyler Sisters' rap (cause relatable asf), it was a full on "yuhhhhh get into ittt" moment for me. Also sorry cause I know that wtf feeling but I loved seeing your freak out to 'say no to this', especially the Multiple 'helpless' cause same and honestly the anguish never stops, everytime I watch the play I feel like pulling out my hair, yelling at the screen, and beating up Alex, the song honestly slaps too hard for me not to sing along when listening to the album but I still manage a disappointed smh. I truly love your dissections and analysis of all the songs and your catching of motifs and explainations on how it influences the music, the character(s), the audience, and helps with predictions of what's gonna happen next. I have a somewhat trained ear so I knew what I was hearing but didn't have the vocab to explain it so thank you, you're great at explaining that and familiarizing myself (and I'm sure others) with that too. also as other commenters have said only cheaters try to justify cheating point blank period. random p.s. your outro music is fire, it tickles my brain in all the right ways. Keep up the amazing reactions, keep being the amazing you that you are, and don't Alex ambition too much, take care of yourself and family PLEASE (mainly yourself as you seem like a great person/spouse/parent -if not future parent) life love and happiness peace out brother! ✌🏼👑

Queen Genesis in the house!! I really appreciate you breaking from your norm & taking the time to comment (thank god I saw it with how massive this comment section already is) & so I'm going to try to respond in kind. Know that if you ever feel like commenting again I will 100% respond again (unless I unfortunately don't see it). "everytime I watch the play I feel like pulling out my hair, yelling at the screen, and beating up Alex" I appreciate that this comment makes you Team Anti-Cheating as well! For that this is for you 👑🫡 "the song honestly slaps too hard for me not to sing along when listening to the album" Understandable! She ATE that song up! Acting & singing is on point start to finish! "didn't have the vocab to explain it so thank you, you're great at explaining that" Thank you, I try to explain things the best I can without getting TOO overly complex that I just straight up lose everyone in the process because it turns into a music theory lecture lol. "also as other commenters have said only cheaters try to justify cheating point blank period" You will never believe how many people were VERY angry that I implied Alex cheating with his sister in law would be a bad thing during part 4! I was like WHAT!?!? There are people mad at me AGAIN for this video as well as if I haven't shown at EVERY opportunity my stance on cheating! 😭 "your outro music is fire, it tickles my brain in all the right ways" Thank you! That’s my song Under The Moonlight (by Amari Leone lol). It's available on all online platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes etc.) & here is a link to it's KZbin video kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqXYq5aofZejiNU You can actually find a link to the videos for the intro or outro music of any of my videos (it's not always the same songs) in the description of that video you're watching. "take care of yourself and family PLEASE (mainly yourself as you seem like a great person/spouse/parent -if not future parent) " I am neither a spouse nor parent but I try very hard to be a good person & one day when I am those things I will try even hard to be great at those roles too. Thank you for your kind words and have a great day! ❤️💛
