Brompton cover is too snug. It certainly wont go over my fat comfort saddle. I found another one on amazon that is open at the bottom and roomier (still wont fit over extended seat post if you have one). I'm hoping if I stick a carrier bag over the saddle Eurostar will be ok with that for travel.

@FunwithBrommie9 күн бұрын
I don't have exact weights, but they are very light. I've been riding the bike quite a bit, and no trouble with the Sugru holding the mount in place. I bought these primarily for the handlebar light, but Brompton only sells them in pairs, so I didn't want the rear light to be wasted. Hope this helps.

@FunwithBrommie16 күн бұрын
The rack shown is the Brompton-issue superlight roller rack for the P-Line and T-Line available from Brompton USA or UK. If you have a C-line that rack won't fit. Brompton has changed the rear triangle dimensions on the newer models. I cover this a little in my related video listed above that covers adding the easy wheel extender. I illustrate the triangle width difference. There are pros and cons to both racks. The new rack for P & T line is much lighter, but doesn't have the same type of surface area for where you set objects. The older racks I think are better for holding carry-out and pastry boxes.

It appears that you are using both a Brompton rack and a set of easy wheel extenders. Are you finding that a Brompton rack with four wheels lacks stability, or are there other reasons you're using the extender?
@BIKEgangАй бұрын
With extender on brompton with rack, the center of mass for the bike will have even bigger area to move around till it is tilted. I have tried 2 x-rollers on racked brompton, bag + basket load 20Kg still stnad straight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o2qUpZmKaaaAgrs
@FunwithBrommieАй бұрын
I find that even with 4 wheels, because the main riding wheel folds on the right, the bike tends to be wobbly to that side due to the extra weight. I also did not feel secure taking my hands off it when the grocery bag on the luggage block was full. I mention that in the video. I really like the stability it adds to the bike even when I'm just parking the bike without luggage.

@FunwithBrommie4 күн бұрын
It's called the "4Monster". I got it on Amazon. There are many similar folding backpacks available there in various sizes. I'd avoid the smallest since they are so light you'll have more flexibility with the greater capacity ones. They are a great thing to have on the bike. There's really no weight gain and they give you the option of carrying home unexpected purchases.

Is your Brompton a M or H ?

@@FunwithBrommie Ergon GP-4 works well with the Minimods on the advanced roller rack of my electric H PLine. Assuming you set them almost horizontally. Would be even better if I changed the standard wheels for 80mm (not larger) ones, but with the risk of the grip being very close to the wheel when folded.

I was lucky to find a second hand earlier version (older) Brompton cover . It's roomier and my bike fits in with tilted handlebar. You can identify it from one difference: instead of having elastic band at the open end of bag, it has a string which can be tightened.
@FunwithBrommie4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info. I've noticed that Vincita has a similar type bike cover, but I don't know if it is roomier.
@bikepartnersbikeshop4 ай бұрын
Why not push it the other direction and use the handlebar as the handle?
@FunwithBrommie4 ай бұрын
I found that more awkward. It was hard to keep the bike from tilting sideways. Keeping it close to me helps protecting from shopping cart bumps - it's too vulnerable when it's more open. Fully folded, it just looks like a weird shopping trolley to most people. I want to avoid it looking like a "bike" so I don't get a store manager saying - "well if we let you in with the bike, we have to let everybody bring their bike in and we don't want to do that."

I have also adjusted angle of handlebar towards the saddle. One thing to notice is that folded width of bike changes, handlebar is further from the frame of the bike when folded, which makes folded bike wider. This is normally not a big deal, but when fitting bike into bag or to the shelf of train etc, it may be problematic. I made tiny marks to handlebar and holder with nail lacquer, red color, and marked original and new positions. It's then quick to adjust handlebar back to "standard" width if I want to fold my bike to most compact width.
@FunwithBrommie4 ай бұрын
Yes, the outward bend is an unfortunate side effect of moving the bars to a more comfortable position. I actually can still get the Brompton cover over them with the Ergon grips for an added degree of difficulty. It's a very snug fit and not good if you need to get the bag on quickly to board a train, but it's do-able. I mostly keep the bag for cases where a restaurant might deny me entry over the bike. 😉

Oh I have found another "Real Brompton Rider", having spent time to sow on a leather cover for the frame! I also have leather up my "stem post", for extra protection, plus all the possible Chinese carbon parts for all my frames week spots! And a bromptonian bracket for my front mudguard, from NL. Plus a similar frame strap as mine, it seems? From new in 2019 I gave it a full Autopolish and found the one "Clear Tape" (The only frame protection from the Factory), nearly worn through after two folds, so I immediately ordered a full set of Carbon protection, and a shield for the fork, from China! But I have found two 10 cm wheels on my metal and - carbon tube extender axle, so it is now a "Tank", even as folded! Finn. Denmark
@FunwithBrommie5 ай бұрын
You bet!😁 Taking the bike on and off public transit - not everyone is considerate about not scratching the paint on your bike. Actually the leather frame cover has multiple small velcro tabs to attach it - much easier than trying to lace it up perfectly. I bought a titanium clip for the rear triangle where the front wheel hook attaches, but the double-sided tape that came with it failed. I'm looking for better double sided tape for that. I've covered that part for now with 3M "helicopter" tape as well as using it to protect the rear triangle from the chain. I've also put the tape in each spot where the cables will rub. I put one of those little Union Jack shields on the front fork to protect it from cable rubbing + a little clear tape where the cable might rub when the wheel is turned. I spent enough time researching and saving to buy the bike - I want to keep it looking nice!

@@FunwithBrommie As a former pupil, with Honours, from a Sailor School (now 76), I had my fun in making the stitches look near perfect and very Pro, but where do you find the Velcro version? ("Chrisbybike" from Rio complains, that if/as she washes her bike, a leather may become wet!). I have bought one from a Shop in London, which sells a long version of those, also covering the back triangle, for a near full protection, but the bend makes the leather look a little floppy! My bike is a 2019 Flame painted, former Top, "SuperlightM6LXBrompton", which did cost an absurd amount of money, when bought in Copenhagen. I have since made it somewhat lighter with a lot of extra titanium and carbon, so I expect it to weigh around 8,5 - 8,75kilo (Without having the weight since the last changes), and still with my less weight Mudguards (The Heavy Metal clamps holding the - titanium stays and the guards, may easily be changed to a lighter carbon and alu set from China!). @@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 I added a link to the source in the video description above. It is by SOUMA Leather in the Czech republic. I purchased it through Etsy. I wanted to be able to easily remove and reinstall it for washing the bike. They also make the matching stem protector - I have both. It conforms well to the shape of the frame for a nice, clean look. After it is on the bike for a while the leather "settles" in for a better fit and you can readjust the velcro. Yes, the eternal problem with the Brompton is adding the features you want, but keeping the bike easy to lift. I always want a rear rack for carrying things on the bike. Brompton has improved (reduced) the rack weight in the one made for the P/T line. Of course, it adds weight. I subtracted 1/3 of the gain by switching to the Titanium Brompfication seatpost. Trying to reduce by another 1/3 by purchasing the Brompton superlight pedals.

@@FunwithBrommie I have two Chinese bought models: Titanium Carriers (the original, small triangle and a more square model, as also a more common and new model carrier for Brompton). But as a "weight freak" I haven't added any on my bike, as I find my Chinese Version of a: T-Bag fine for most purposes, and able to be removed, when not in use (which is most of the time!). And I don't like a pedal which is able to be "lost" during transport, but I have a titanium bolt for for my original folding pedal, at least 😄! Finn.
