Hi, I have the same dat as you, (tascam DA 20MKII). In your video at minute 05:21 you press the skip button and the track goes to the second song. If I press the skip button, the tape does not stop at track, two, three etc., it continues without stopping. The recording was made from a cd with space of about 4 seconds between one song and the other. Why? Thanks, Orlando.

I still kinda dont get how DATs work as far as going through the tracks on one. In other words, can you skip through tracks on a given recording on a DAT the same way you can for example on a CD? If a DAT has let’s say 15 songs (tracks), and I wanna listen to track 8, do i have to actually rewind/fast forward the DAT manually to that specific 8th track? Or can i automatically skip through the track list till i get to track 8 like on a CD (CD player) and the DAT player automatically goes & plays that track?

Thanks. I spent weeks looking for a nice CD Transport when I realized I’ve a Toshiba SD9000 DVD player which at the time it was released was a £1500 high end DVD player weighing 20 lbs. So wondered why I couldn’t use that as a CD transport instead ? Question is - do I use RCA or digital or coaxial into the DAC?

Das Deck funktioniert perfekt wenn man einen Capstan den hinteren hinter löschkopf ausbaut. Der Capstan Riemen kann dann auch weg direkt antrieb seit 100 von Stunden absolut fehlerfrei im Einsatz toller Klang besser als ein Zwei Capstan Laufwerk.... Wr eh nur ein Marketing Gag von Sony 😂

Hey - great video. On Page 20 of the manual it specifies there is a display brightness setting adjustment only available via the remote. Likely the bottom unit has just been dimmed using this setting. Cheers.

Imam dva komada, jednom mijenjao remenje na jednom i to je to. Nažalost, nisam ih koristio zadnjih skoro 6 godina pa ne znam u kakvom su stanju. Kad ljudima prezentiram dbx, svi su zapanjeni koliko ta redukcija šuma ukloni šum trake. Počeo sam prebacivati snimke s kazeta na minidisc medije iz razloga što ne znam koliko bi kazetofoni mogli još biti upotrebljivi. Uživao sam u tim kazetofonima, a život nema reprizu. :-(

You should use a properly calibrated direct drive deck to make this kind of tape, but you don't have it. Assumption is that the right deck on this unit is on the point, so it's dead right with the tape speed, and that's why we can use it to approximately make a test tape for some other tape deck. It's not perfect and proper, but it works.

how to record from rear inputs?

That's not how it works. You need a test tone tape , a professionally made test tape .Made on calibrated equipment. Than you can adjust your deck . If you have a frequency counter or frequency counter app.

You have to record the test tone on a perfectly tuned/calibrated tape machine then play it on the tape machine you need to tune. Regarding the pinch roller it just puches the tape on the important part, the capstan, which actualy runs the tape.

I had this deck , bought it new in the 90s , I didn't liked the sound fortunately.

My dad used to have it when i was young. He used this deck to record all the tapes that he will sell back at his shop. We had a few of them back in the 80's..tpu really bring back my old memories man!!

hi i buy ADAT decks black face and later ones i do change over parts to have the best deck note ADAT is not like alot because of the recording time on a tape is low i been un lucky with DAT decks reel to reel are my bag like tascam 30 love the teac 44 80-8 decks i have space to keep them

I bought that lower one from you about a year ago. It's been a good deck, after I gave it an azimuth adjustment. I use it for everything from music recording to mastering data cassettes for old computer programs.. Finally today one of the FF/RW motor gears broke a tooth, so I will go in to replace those gears and maybe address the braking squeal at the same time.
