wow, I absolutely loved the video. I like Czekhov, although read just first set of stories, Ward No 6, Black Monk and Woman's Lot I enjoyed the most... He describes the fate people are not able to escape, the turmoil, realizing nothing special will happen in their life, also the role of death, in my interpretation - when dr Ragin died, or a professor from the Black Monk, or story Murder. As if she was coming when a human finally experienced what was his homework to do in life, or as if death was necessary for a change. I am thinking of what next I want to take for a read (;

I completely shared your frustrations with Part 4. I didn’t understand how Vronsky, Karenin, and Anna all changed immediately. And none of the decisions after the childbirth scene made sense to me. Anna has become a petulant child IMO.

The eponymous "crime" of Crime & Punishment occurs in Chapter VII. When does the "punishment" happen-- in the Epilogue? In Siberia? Is the punishment something you've analyzed, Ms. Clef? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts... Please direct me to the Part of your Analysis, (1 - 7) that digs into Dostoyevski's thoughts about punishment.

Thank you for making this video. I really enjoyed it...and learned from it. However, you are now responsible for a considerable lengthening of my TBR list. 😊 . I love Dostoyevsky, even more than Don Quixote.

I liked Tolstoy's translation of Evangelion and suggest anyone interested in how Tolstoy understood Jesus Christ teaching reading them. I am not 100% sure if they were translated.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I’m currently in my first read through, in my native tongue (Spanish). I see I’m missing out a lot of detail and nuance, be it out of dumbness and lack of attention or because it got lost in translation… I’m happy to have found someone who’s actually knowledgeable both in the content of the book and the original language, thank you very much for your work!! It will be a great guide as I read along
