How have I missed you, Christen, in my quest to learn how to bow a few melodies on the fiddle? You are a gifted and talented teacher! Thank you! I promise I will never attempt to hold my bow at the frog again. I was just bein' silly. Again, thank you, you're the best teacher I've found.

Nicely done! I'm originally from Harnett Co. NC and knew Marvin. Lucky enough to have played some with him and Lauchlin Shaw.

Thank you a lot! Very detailed explications. At the end you give some example for shuffle tunes, I cannot always correctly understand the title,it would be cool, if you'd write the titles in your description. Tanks a lot for your work!

I want to echo what a lot of your viewers have already said. Your videos, teaching style, and playing are as good as anything i have seen in the way of fiddle instruction. The way you break things down I have a feeling really helps people. You have such a great groove in your playing. Keep doing what you are doing

Ok, so you are not playing both strings continuously? You are only hitting the other string with the shuff?

Actually, Snow Shoes is the original title, from Tommy Jackson. The tune was misnamed many years ago through an error. Those things are hard to take back, and one reason so many fiddle tunes have more than one name! Anyway, congrats for the vídeo! You are a great teacher! 👏👏👏👏👏

Great lesson! Thank you. I thought the shuffle was more of an up-flick motion in the wrist, and I just wasn't getting it. This makes so much more sense. More ergonomic, I guess the word would be.

Hi! I was just wondering how you can determine which fiddle tunes use shuffle Bowing?
@christenblantonmack1243
@christenblantonmack1243 2 жыл бұрын
Great question: the shuffle can be used in the vast majority of tunes. If you are trying to figure out if it fits, try singing the tune with the words “Down Shuffle Up Shuffle” or “Slur Shuffle Slur Shuffle.” This trick can also reveal if you really know the tune: if you can sing it, you can play it!
