I needed this video, thank you. I bought my first welder a few months ago. I already had capability to do rough metal cuts with a reciprocating saw, nibbler, or grinder cutoff wheel. I suspect a plasma cutter will be my second big tool dedicated to metal. It is at least a year away, but I had already started looking into brands. I had read Hypertherm sets industry standards. I feel good about what I saw here.

Love it when a new lift arc video comes out

Fascinating stuff! I didn’t know the different applications of plasma cutters

If anyone is wondering about who he was talking about that he follows on youtube who does carbon arc gouging on bucket teeth from heavy equipment, I’m 99% sure it’s the Cutting Edge Engineering KZbin channel. They also have a cute dog.

Arc3 is an awesome company ! Way easier to deal with then their competitors!

I wanna invent an adjustable drag wheel accessory that even if you pull a bit to hard/fast or uneven it will limit your speed to your setting consistently. Like a cruise control for your arm. So if the surface is a bit rough, you can maintain a regular travel speed. In order to get CNC like results. In better words, the idea is that you're supposed to pull harder than normal and the thing will hold you back to the set speed.

I bought the flush-cut tip, and it's great.

Frank is there so often these days, I can’t decide if he works for you, or you work for him.

Looks like the sort of m/c I could have used years ago, when I was an Ag Engineer.

Satesh from Trinidad and Tobago.Very informative. Thanks for shearing the information. I have a question. What type of cylinders of compressed air can I use on a plasma? Thanks in advance.

The 45 amp system is capable of using precision tips that the bigger machines can't.

Mayber get them to sent to CEE a plasma cutter to test their claim... :) it would be a cool colab.

Thousands of volts? That's a lot of volts!!
@kenricroseАй бұрын
Yeah, it’s a lot of volts, potentially a deadly amount of volts, but it ain’t anywhere near a thousand volts, much less ‘thousands” of volts..
@melgrossАй бұрын
No, it’s a pilot arc start. That goes off as soon as you touch down. But it runs at around 120 to maybe 150 volts. That’s still very dangerous.

Not looking for marketing BS here, but HOW are they able to get so much more cut thickness from 45A? My eastwood 45A machine is pretty much limited to 3/8".
@danielbuckАй бұрын
I had no idea the 45 could cut that thick, does the 45XP cut that thick as well? thickest I've done is 3/8", mostly because I don't work with anything thicker than that. And as a request, would be nice to not cut the edit while doing some of the cuts, so that folks have an idea of how long the cut took :)
@frankray3934Ай бұрын
The SYNC output is the same as the old XP. 5/8 at 20ipm.

Maybe a text overlay indicating cut time?

I have a 45XP non-sync for my CNC plasma table and it is perfect for the work I do. I opted for bigger table 4x8 (a mistake) over a bigger plasma when I purchased a CNC for my garage shop and have yet to have any issues with it. I can't express enough how important an actual refrigerated air dryer is for shop air system and especially for people running SYNC. It's one thing to go through classic consumables because of humidity in the air system, but it's a whole other level of pain to have to lean the hard way on SYNC consumables. And for all the tiktok and YT videos out there promoting copper-pipe-labyrinth-wall-art as an air dryer... just stop it already. That sh!t does not work.
@AnneDunning-s3cАй бұрын
Why was the 4×8 table a mistake? Ill fit in small space?
@stevemccauley5734Ай бұрын
You’re wrong. Yes I’m sure some of the videos you’re talking about where they’ve built a compressor intercooler with a bunch of copper pipe is bs. But a well designed intercooler between the compressor head & tank does work. Very well actually. My 100 gallon 2 stage compressor has a home built intercooler on it that took several revisions to get correct but it now has almost 0 moisture in the tank. I’m not saying a refrigerated dryer is useless or couldn’t make it better but don’t dismiss something you’ve obviously never tried.

I'm only talking about the "copper-pipe-labyrinth-wall-art" crap, not an aftercooler.
@theatomproject007Ай бұрын
Yes small 24x30 home-shop. Plus moving 4x8 sheets of steel thicker than ~1/2" takes multiple people and/or heavy equipment and it just isn't practical for my use case. If I had a commercial space then it would be fine, but unless there is a specific job case for it a 4x4 plasma CNC is perfect for home-shops in my opinion.

I immediately have one question, is there an adapter for sync to use normal cheap consumer elements? And another question, why is there no attitude to produce consumer elements that are cheaper, but the tendency is always the other way? I have nothing against very complicated torches with a large number of replaceable parts, but let them be ridiculously cheap (max 1 USD) and improve their durability. If you can't properly assemble a plasma or TIG torch without reading the instructions or sharpen a drill or thread a hole, then don't even bother with metalworking. You don't need to have completed studies for this, you just need to think.

I just bought my first Plasmacutter for 200 dollar that can be plugged into the wall with a normal 2 prong 220 volt , I have never used a plasma cutter and only got a little plastic bag with tips.
