Keep the boat tied up at the dock until you're all set to load. Don't worry if someone else is waiting just take your time. Too many moving parts and it's already kinda intense under best conditions. Also for everyone wanting to build boats but don't have a lot of experience in the water don't go building a 21 footer. Start out smaller and learn the ropes because it's totally OTJ training. You don't want to be featured on boat fails of the week LoL. Nice catches out there btw.

That was a little intense but didn't see any fillings falling out. I don't know if it was a result of your engine capacity or maybe a bit loaded up or you took Jeff's advice to just back off the speed in rough weather but at any rate the boat handled well. I'm still going to start with the 12 Cheyenne but won't be heading out into heavy waters just skirting around the reefs here on the back side of Bali. But I definitely want to build a bigger boat for offshore after the learning project. Sadly I didn't pull the trigger on a set of plans before Jeff passed away but world boat skiffs has plans available now for his 18' skiff so I'll probably do that instead.

It's a shame Jeff's website has been taken down. I'm glad I downloaded a lot of his study plans and other free materials from his website. Congratulations on a great build. I'm also going to build the Seneca because I have to launch from the surf here in Indonesia. No boat ramps. Edit: I know a lot of builders are going to be disappointed about Jeff Spira passing and his website deactivated but there's a great channel on KZbin called World Boat Skiff. He's got an excellent tutorial for building a 17' flat bottom skiff very similar to Jeff's Pacific Power Dory and he's also selling plans. I've got a couple episodes in my playlist if anyone wants to check it out.

Great build! I build the Hudson skiff, i wasnt aware of him passing. Send and email couple of months ago and didnt get an answer. About yout build, i did mine with that same flooring, and after some fishing trips I change it to a plywood blind floor.

Nice build!!! I was unaware of Jeff Spiras passing. I was looking at several of his boats, possibly to combine two sets of plans to come up with a unique boat. I ended up buying an old boat to restore so maybe some other day I will build a Spira.
