With so many major JRPG's out this month, let alone this year, Romancing SaGa 2 has stiff competition! But this remake has surprised me in a TON of ways, and so thanks to ‪@squareenix‬, I can bring you my FULL review of the final game!

i pre-ordered this game straight away after played the demo, whilst decided to wait for sale after played metaphor refantasio demo.

The bit about it becoming a spinoff called Final Fantasy Legend and then the SaGa series isn't actually right. It had the Final Fantasy name tacked on to bolster sales outside of Japan, and was SaGa in Japan. It did, however, have chocobo.

I'm so excited to finally play this tomorrow! I'm pretty well versed in the original 2D version of the game so I can't wait to see what else has changed (as well as to get beaten to a pulp again)

Game is pretty hard. Probably the hardest modern RPG I've played. Not so easy when you can't save anywhere.

At first I thought this was some sort of DLC then I was pleasantly surprised that it’s a whole ass remake. Glad I didn’t purchase it when it first came up ☺️

Wasn't really looking at this game until I played the demo, which I quite liked so the game definitely landed on my radar, but I don't know when I'll get to play it. Right now I'm finishing my Metaphor platinum and tomorrow I'm starting Ys X, so there's no time to fit this one in yet :D

I've played it for a few hours so far, and it does remind me of FF2, having to level things up seperately, and one thing that is kind of funny, but annoying that you didn't mention is that items sell out fast especially the Bp ones, you get like only eight then they sell out, but you get alot money in the beginning though, so its kind of dumb when some items sell out fast, its not a big deal if your party sleeps at a Inn, the Bp guage is refilled, so its best to use Bp which is like Mp items sparingly, is a somthing new players should know.

Got stuck early in SaGa Frontier and while I’m not looking forward to another open world game, I’m hyped. I think there’s the right level of chaos I don’t get too worried about my decisions and just see what happens

Just a heads up grinding is dangerous in Saga games. The more ENCOUNTERS you get into with enemies the harder the game becomes. After winning a certain number of battles enemies will grown in strength.

@@icewolf6062It can be, but the flipside is that the game is balanced around you largely nit needing to grind. So sure, if you love grinding it's a con, but if you'd rather always be exploring and progressing without needing to spend an hour running in circles fighting slimes, it's great!

@@HappyRatKaiser I don't necessarily love grinding. I just usually do it to make later stuff easier. Though I guess this means I'd have to fight that instinct lol.

@@icewolf6062 Aye, though you'll be happy to know there's time you can actually grind to overcome things, and that's late game. Enemy scaling has a cap, and once that cap is hit -- and it usually will by the late game -- you can fight all you like.

Nice review, Xeen continues to impress. As someone who owns the original I do feel somewhat obligated to point out one rather crucial mistake - SaGa is notorious for PUNISHING grinding. You absolutely DO NOT WANT TO GRIND. At least not in the traditional sense, I learned that lesson the hard way from The Last Remnant which is basically SaGa Tactics. I'll try to keep this brief, but basically every time you fight it raises a hidden battle counter, which counts towards 2 things - Time Skips and Enemy Scaling. Basically the more you fight, the more likely a time skip will happen after a quest and stronger enemies will get during the next era. You do want to still grind, but you have to be smart about it - absolutely do not revisit places with monsters just to grind them for skills, this will ratchet up the battle counter and screw you over.

@@MaI2Me Fight everything you can in a given dungeon/story area, it's MUCH easier now too because they added rest points right before the bosses that will restore all your MP. You have to grind smart, not hard

@@MaI2Me you shouldn't need to, and worst case scenario even if you fully wipe on a boss, because of the inheritance system you can just try again in the next generation. That's kind of why you're not really supposed to get attached to any characters, it's sort of like the precursor to Darkest Dungeon in that regard

I play the demo on my switch oled and all I can say is this game is very fun to play so I preorder the game so I can play this game on the go I was thinking about preorder this game on my steam deck but I decided not to so I preorder it on my switch oled instead I can’t wait to play this game tomorrow on October 24th 2024 😃

They need to make ff4-10 like this. Thats all we ask for when we say remake. Updated graphic and 3D model.

If this weren't coming out in the end of year flood of games, I likely would be picking it up after this, but too many games not enough time. Metaphor, DragonQuest III, and Fantasian Neo Dimension are higher on my list.

I know on this channel this is a hot take but the saga series is better then final fantasy and ive been looking forward to this game since its announcement
