She couldn't have that conversation with him period. And that is something you will not understand because you have to be in her shoes, in her circumstances to have understood. She communicated what she could at the time to the best of her ability.

Nice episode as always. But it did come across like you were judging her, which made her become defensive especially telling her she was wrong about thinking telling him she wasn’t attracted to him was easier and might’ve saved the situation. I think I can understand how she would’ve wanted to spare his feelings and not make him feel outright rejected. But then when she had this other fire blazing, she just had to speak up. Might not make logical sense, but that’s emotional reasoning, I think. Kit, your point is totally logical. But then humans be ‘humanizing’ all the time. lol. She might’ve mentally checked out of the marriage by then as well. 🤷🏾♀️

Loyce got a bit too defensive in this instead of accepting an outside view to reflect on from a man's perspective. This was a gd discussion, but I wish the guest just allowed herself to be more open instead of justifying her behaviour and choices by using the husband's untold side.

This is so steeped in patriarchy and capitalism . Black women have to participate in systems that’s never benefited them, or even considered them. The softness of white women is protected guarded even, for black woman that softness is bred out of you. Black men get to benefit from patriarchy so they’ve never had to do the real work of unravelling their identity. Black women always have to do that work to some extent. He’s also makes it sound like women are status symbols, things you acquire and discard as you climb the capitalism ladder in the cult of success. White women have historically been treated ornamentally, as ‘trophy wives’ that’s not black women’s truth. I feel like black men often treat black women like their white counterparts do and expect them to act like white women. Then they dismiss the experiences of black women when they speak out and denigrate their femininity when they don’t act in the narrow lines of femininity dictated by patriarchy and capitalism and white supremacy. Speak to black women, why should we play this role of the submissive woman who is protecting the male ego. Perhaps the kinda love we can have is not based on the patriarchal capitalist white supremacist ideal. Perhaps because black women have existed outside of the system, the love black women are able to have with black men looks different. What the ‘different’ is black men have to be willing to explore without getting stuck in the trappings of ego and masquerading masculinity. Do the work black men. Do the work.

This was a right up there with some of your best ones. I think she thought you were judging her, which, having seen many of your episodes, you really don't do. It's not your style, you keep it real but like it to be conciliatory. I think she still feels bad about what she did. Any chance, you could pop the podcast onto places like Podbean and other platforms Kit ?

What's funny is whenever a woman encounters a man who continues his single behavior after being in a relationship... he's immature and he should be more serious about the relationship... should we call the clubbing girls immature when the want to go out with their girls?! While men and woman are not equal, the logic applies. Woman are social creatures that take their cues from society first and foremost. Dressing sexy may make her feel good and so therefore she's doing it for herself, but the feeling she feels is based on the feedback loop of society of people who see her and what society defines as sexy and how well she measures up to that standard, which still requires feedback. If no one ever sees her, does she still feel sexy? Why does she feel compelled to share how she looks with others when she feels sexy? She takes a bunch of photos and shows others or shares it to social media or goes outside. It may not be explicitly for male attention, but male attention is a part of it. The last part of this comes later in the convo when she shares that a man will marry the good girl and then cheat on her with the stripper... does this mean that a woman will continue to dress sexy in a relationship out of insecurity sometimes? Because she doesn't want the strippers to gain the upper hand? She'd rather be the woman who a man leaves his woman for than the woman who gets left? Qtna... I've always noticed women changing their behaviors and appearance naturally and unprompted when they're in a relationship in order to protect the relationship. So a man thinks a woman doesn't value him or the relationship when she doesn't do this.
