This was a culture shock for me moving to an American school. I'd come from playing sport meaning that i had a game on Saturday and training one afternoon a week, this changed to attending something 4 afternoons a week. Both in grade 9, both were at a district level against other schools.

I used to be an aid in a 5th grade class. We had to ban soccer multiple times at recess because kids were literally grinding each other into the dirt in order to "win." The kids that didn't play soccer outside of school were often at great risk to be injured or were just excluded from playing altogether. They actually opened up a charter school centered around soccer in that area a few years later. The entire community was absolutely bonkers over it, and parents were often as competitive and unforgiving as the kids were. It was WAY out of hand for sure. It definitely wasn't like that when I was a kid growing up.

Let the stereotyping in the comments begin . 😅 all fed babies are healthy babies! I know gifted kids that have no health issues and I know many children with respirator and skin issues not as advanced as the above . Again all fed babies are healthy babies ! ❤🎉

Agreed! This is absolutely the culture in my neighborhood. I've seen kids get crushed when they didn't get the big college scholarships that they expected; and, I've seen some get injured and be relieved to have a life again...

I too was a rec sport kid. By the fourth grade I was in basketball, soccer, volleyball, and softball but there was one that I loved. Since it was rec league, all I needed was my civic center card, a uniform and glove. I still fondly remember going to games and running the bases.

I’m glad they always call me first. Maybe the office would rather talk to a female than a male a woman than a man. I’m a stay at home mom in online graduate school and my husband works full time and overtime far away and take his bike there and public transportation while I take our only car. But yes I’ve realized that hahah. It’s fine with me but I know it can be seen as sexist. I shouldn’t be controlling but I’d rather them tell me before my husband lol hahah. I’m sorry and please do forgive me if my comment offends anyone.

They always contact the Husband in our family, even though he's listed secondary. They cal him, and send him the emails, whereas the Mother often isn't emailed or called at all.

I hate to see babies in day care. If you are working parent then plan and save for atleast 5 years and then one parents is there at home. Or do work from home job .. it is like production of heirs. What's the point of being parents when you just make money and have no time to be parents. Poor souls.

Once I was about 8 years old, my mom made my birthday parties gift free and started asking attendees to bring donations for local nonprofits, such as shoes, canned food, and christmas gift boxes to be sent to children around the world. Even for her 50th birthday party a few years ago, she insisted none of her friends should bring gifts but instead donate money to one of our city’s homeless shelters. If you’re going to spend money on a gift for a kid, might as well make it go towards a good cause.
