This was a great video! So hard to find a video that actually shows it! I did learn that the dracenea roots better if the vase is opaque though. The roots need the dark. Thought I’d share😊 thank you for this video!

Thank you! I had no idea i could just chop it off. It's getting too tall. And now I shall have another plant as well! Nice quick video and you changed my attitude about this plant, which really didn't seem to need me very much haha

This was very informative 👏🏾. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate it because I wanted to know if I would be on the right track to propagate my Dracaena Janet Craig with 100 percent result. Thumbs-up for this! Now, I just need to know how your DJC top propagation is coming along😊.

Hi, I have a similar plant but a different name (Xanthosoma frozen plant), the lower leaves are droopy :( how can I save them or root them?
@mimosveta2 жыл бұрын
when I had to chop up my dracaena , I stuck it into the soil, watered it, and made sure it didn't go too dry for too long, and it continued to grow like nothing happened, I haven't even lost a leaf from all three stalks, so you really don't need months in the water, you just need to keep it, if you have adhd like me, in a place where you'll see it, and you'll remember to water it until it grows roots. same goes for yuca, I had to chop up my moms yuca, as it's "branches" were mushy, in the middle, I couldn't save the trunk, as one branch turned brown all the way inside of the trunk, but I put all 4 tops into leca and it rooted within a day, I'm not even exaggerating. I didn't have any soil at the time, and I was in a hurry cause I figured, the sooner I cut it, the more I can save, and it rooted within a day. had I known how fast it would root, I'd wait to by soil, cause I probably broke half of the roots off while getting it out of leca and into the soil

Replanting into a 2 inch bigger pot was pointless.
@joshsmith66042 жыл бұрын
You don't need to do that to the roots. It can take 3 or so months to recover from damage.

When I tried this, it didn't work, it just made the stock soft and the plant died. Any more tips for next attempt?
@HP_Quinn2 жыл бұрын
Disinfect the shears or whatever you use to make the cut. If you're placing it in water, change it out frequently and keep it warm place (not right by a window if it cools down at night, etc. Warmth is the key.) You can also plant the cutting directly in soil before watering it. Applying root hormone (you can buy at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc for only a few bucks) can help the cutting take root.

Thank you for doing this video it is right in time I had been watching videos on how to cate for them mostly to try and find how to pot my sphagnum moss propagated leaves. See message👇 thanks guys ps you ate cute together I wish my brothers and I were close relationship wise, physically they live nearby but....🙄 Maybe someday, I will keep praying till then. Take care...keep it up! Beautiful plants.

Thank you for the kind words :D! You can definitely put more than one propagation in a single pot, but i'd avoid crowding them. 2 or 3 per pot should be plenty and it'll give you a full plant when mature! We'll be recording a propagation video soon. Stay posted!

Please help…. I bought a 4 staggered CGC to the tune of $200 and it was over fertilized so I tried to save it but more problems arose. Anyway, I had to take a whole stagger section out. As it seemed to be rooted mid way down the stalk So I chopped it off right at the base, tossed the top and hoping I can grow it again hence the root system is nice and healthy. Can I replant it in a fresh pot of soil and it will grow again? Plz help. Thank you.
@plantrelated73223 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry to hear about your plant!! I think the steps you took are exactly what I would have done. You can repot it. Just make sure your new soil is well draining and that the pot isn’t too big. I would also be extremely careful about over watering it. Especially as it recuperates. If needed, error on the side of under watering. Best of luck!!

for what's it worth, when I managed to forget to water all of my dracaenas for a month, as it was starting to spring, one had it's trunk turn brown, and I had to cut the branches to save them. I just stuck them into soil, and made sure to water it regularly, they haven't skipped a beat, not a single leaf lost, they started to show signs of new growth within a weak. In fact, I'd skip the water and stick them directly in the soil again, cause there's no reason to disturb the fragile new roots by planting it later
