Ok, I've been searching all day for this info, going thru many videos, of which all had me pissed halfway thru and took ALL day long! They either took 5 hours to get to the actual act of doing, or, it took all day to find out they werent going to actually show you anything AT all, or, they weren't even on the subject you wanted even tho that's what the title was, YOU got to the point, with the info I needed, you didn't take all day to get one sentence out, you explained very well! Thank you, do you happen to do any hair videos, lol kidding

Perfect! I didn't even know what kind of plant I had. It was 42" tall and leaning quite a bit when I brought it outside to repot. A slight breeze caused it to topple over and it broke in half. Now that I know I can root the top, I think it's actually a good thing it broke. It looks better shorter. Thanks for the info.

This is great! I have one, it was my first houseplant and was actually part of a project for a fun horticulture class I took in university. It's getting really tall and has some unfortunate sparseness from me being inexperienced, lol. I don't recommend leaving one in a hot car during a move! I might have to take the plunge and do this!

for what's it worth, when I managed to forget to water all of my dracaenas for a month, as it was starting to spring, one had it's trunk turn brown, and I had to cut the branches to save them. I just stuck them into soil, and made sure to water it regularly, they haven't skipped a beat, not a single leaf lost, they started to show signs of new growth within a weak. In fact, I'd skip the water and stick them directly in the soil again, cause there's no reason to disturb the fragile new roots by planting it later

when I had to chop up my dracaena , I stuck it into the soil, watered it, and made sure it didn't go too dry for too long, and it continued to grow like nothing happened, I haven't even lost a leaf from all three stalks, so you really don't need months in the water, you just need to keep it, if you have adhd like me, in a place where you'll see it, and you'll remember to water it until it grows roots. same goes for yuca, I had to chop up my moms yuca, as it's "branches" were mushy, in the middle, I couldn't save the trunk, as one branch turned brown all the way inside of the trunk, but I put all 4 tops into leca and it rooted within a day, I'm not even exaggerating. I didn't have any soil at the time, and I was in a hurry cause I figured, the sooner I cut it, the more I can save, and it rooted within a day. had I known how fast it would root, I'd wait to by soil, cause I probably broke half of the roots off while getting it out of leca and into the soil

Please help…. I bought a 4 staggered CGC to the tune of $200 and it was over fertilized so I tried to save it but more problems arose. Anyway, I had to take a whole stagger section out. As it seemed to be rooted mid way down the stalk So I chopped it off right at the base, tossed the top and hoping I can grow it again hence the root system is nice and healthy. Can I replant it in a fresh pot of soil and it will grow again? Plz help. Thank you.
@plantrelated73223 жыл бұрын
Hi! Sorry to hear about your plant!! I think the steps you took are exactly what I would have done. You can repot it. Just make sure your new soil is well draining and that the pot isn’t too big. I would also be extremely careful about over watering it. Especially as it recuperates. If needed, error on the side of under watering. Best of luck!!

Will the original plant continue to grow like normal once the top is chopped off?
@plantrelated73224 жыл бұрын
It'll actually grow additional branches. The wound where you cut it will harden over and the plant will naturally begin growing additional branches around it!

Mine JCD is 21 years old! This is a great recommendation, will try it out thank you! Do you know why the tips of the leaves would turn brown?
@plantrelated73223 жыл бұрын
That is AMAZING! I hope i have mine that long. It's been 5 years and that already feels long haha. Its always hard to say with the brow tips. It's likely that at one point it was underwatered or overwatered, causing part of the leaf to decay. Theres really no saving that, its just something I typically trim off. it happens to the best of us.

Disinfect the shears or whatever you use to make the cut. If you're placing it in water, change it out frequently and keep it warm place (not right by a window if it cools down at night, etc. Warmth is the key.) You can also plant the cutting directly in soil before watering it. Applying root hormone (you can buy at Lowe's, Home Depot, etc for only a few bucks) can help the cutting take root.

The tips of the leaves of my Dracaena Compacta are turning brown.. what could be the reason?
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane4 жыл бұрын
Mine too. It started after I changed out the soil. Hmmm...?
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane4 жыл бұрын
I had added fertilizer when I changed the soil and later learned I probably put too much in. They don't need a lot of fertilizer, so it was browning (burning) the tips of the leaves.
@tariqziyad98324 жыл бұрын
You shouldn't add any fertilizer when you change the pot or the soil, or your plant roots would burn. And take care of watering.. don't water until the surface of soil is dry.

@@plantrelated7322 2 yrs. I think it kinda became shy cos it's two stalks before then I made them into two but the other one died for some reason. Root rot most likely cos the stem just became soft. Then, this one just stagnant on growth. Still has new small leaves but it just stays that way. It doesn't grow up. Do I maybe need a bigger pot with newer soil?
@SweetStuffOnMonarchLane4 жыл бұрын
@@Clapicus Probably watering too much if root rot is occurring. Mine is growing pretty fast and I only water it when the top 1" of soil feels dry. Don't forget to fertilize too.
