The beautiful thing about the uchi mata is that if you fail to complete an uchi mata, your opponent is still vulnerable for a single leg takedown. You can chain together osoto Gari followed by uchi mata, followed by a single leg takedown. I have competed in many tournaments and this is almost foolproof. It is extremely difficult to defend the single leg after having forced your opponent to defend both of those takedowns it puts them in such a bad position and you are already so close to the leg. Even better if you go for an ankle pick straight into ashi gourami (make sure to secure your knee reap above the knee) once you have the leg entanglement you can easily finish your opponent with an ankle lock or a straight foot locker or even a heel hook. If you are good at changing between positions on leg submissions you can also spin around for a knee bar. But all of this is made so easy because of uchi mata and how vulnerable and opponent is to A single leg takedown ❤🥋
