Is Rosanna played at 160 Bpm? it sounds like 150 surging to 160, because as the question stated it has a syncopated tempo. I feel each individual emulates this timing slightly differently, even between the same artist it can be played with variations, ie on a recoded version which often has computer enhancement to timing the sound post recording... versus live, you can hear different things. Jeff Porcaro was just his own man on the drums and very hard to replicate the exact feel and sound he had.... not to mention the song is so prolific the recorded and produce version is played a lot and people will know if you are slightly out I feel.

@@stevepetrie4672 you are absolutely right. This is a tutorial to give the musician a very in depth grasp of the Rosanna half time shuffle. The musician can use this and add his or her own flavour to it, just like how Simon Philips or Dennis Chambers did. :-)

My first listen .... awesome tune 👌 .... soooo catchy straight from the off !! ... I was hooked immediately and the first 60 secs of a song defines everything about a song for me. It grabs you straight away, reels you in so fast that you just have to listen to it all just in case you miss something. Its really difficult to write songs like that and achieve that instant attention. Its full of memorable hooks and a terrific melody. Chorus parts have singalong/chantalong lines .... a real crowd pleaser. That breakdown morphs into a wonderful guitar solo and towards the outro, the usual extra verse chorus scenario has been avoided but certainly not missed. A refreshing change !! We have a saying here in UK, theres everything in that song bar the kitchen sink !! Its praise indeed from me. This song is sooo damn good, I wait in great anticipation of a follow up. Wonderful playing/singing from everyone involved. Fantastic m8 👍👍🤜🤛👌👌

I have been a Liverpool fan since I was a young boy and Im also a drummer and been drumming for over 35 years. Rosanna, has been my nemesis., I havnt quite tightened it up yet so that I can play it all the way through without mistakes but Im getting close now thanks to your wonderful explanation of it on here.
