Theoretically, clubheads -- like car bumpers -- can be re-chromed. If the set is of sentimental value or one intends to play it for years ahead, it might be worth re-chroming the heads after removing dents and dings and scratches.

I just finished regriping and painting a set of white cameo Apex II clubs. I'm excited to play with them! From what I have been able to find. The white Apex II ran from 1979-1982. Then the cameo was black in 1983. 1983 was the last year for the Apex II cameo irons.

Great videos One thing that isn´t shown here - as the iron doesn´t have the issue - is the dark brown/black ball-strike marks that develop on the club-face when the golf ball is centered over and over. How are those removed?

Good to have you back Andrew! These JPX Hot Metal Pro irons have me greatly intrigued. Good looks, feel, powerful but with higher spin and great decent angle. These seem to tick all the boxes but maybe i should wait till the Ping G440 come out? Hard to beat Mizuno and Ping as we have discussed before. Take Care Andrew!
@andrewainsworth497Ай бұрын
Hi Sean, Thanks for the comments. I think the G440 will be something special. Should have demo equipment mid Jan. All the best Andrew

It is extraordinary. I bought g730 irons and they're messing with my head because they are going MUCH further than my old G irons. It has not helped me that club's pro told me to forget the number on the club. After 62 years that's a bit hard because my old 7 iron is now my new 8 iron and I automatically try to hit the cover off it.

Excellent discussion about iron lofts Andrew! I agree with you and that's why I currently play the PING i230s and previously the PING i200s. BTW, The Farms Golf Club is located just down the street from where I live in Rancho Santa Fe, California. Merry Christmas!
@andrewainsworth497Ай бұрын
Hi Michael, Great to hear from you, The Farms looks like a interesting course. Have you played it much?
@michaelreilly5888Ай бұрын
@@andrewainsworth497 I have only played the Farms once when it first opened. However, it's too long for a 76 year old and way too rich for my retirement budget. The Farms is a fabulous track though. Instead, I play Fairbanks Ranch Country Club on a regular basis. Fairbanks is worth the extra three mile drive.

Hi Andrew good to see you back, you are quite correct in your comments on the quality of the Mizuno irons. I’m still playing my 919 hot metals and they are brilliant, I use head covers and they look as good as when they were delivered. I have been a fan of Mizuno since Faldo was in his prime and they always deliver, it’s just the fault of the idiot swinging them when they miss the target. Have a good Christmas and I’ll look forward to your next video. Nick

Hi Nick, Thanks for your comments. seen a few sets of Mizuno Irons which have been looked after with iron covers and as you say look as good as new. Mizuno have always delivered quality. Merry Christmas.

Good to have you back. These irons very nice. I’ve tested so many irons this year and have decided that in the new year I’m getting the Wilson Dynapwr forged they were by the best looking and feeling iron I’ve tested even against AI300 and P790. Then the killer the price, even with an upgrade on grip and shaft ( graphite) £148. The blades and standard Dynapwr are all brilliant and again best value in golf. The new woods for 2025 look sensational and with more majors won (62) than any other brand they are serious clubs at sane prices, iffy was a pro this would be my first choice to stock, they spend money on the equipment not all the marketing and mass supply to touring pros. I’ve decided I’m not prepared to pay the huge asking price of the big brands. I should also mention that Mizuno offer great value and offer many shafts with no upcharge and I think have also decided not to sign big names.

These pld putters really are nothing special. They're manufactured in China. If you're going to charge Scotty cameron prices, at least have them milled in the US. And if they take so long to manufacture then why are they flooding the market with these models?

New clubs or old. It's the golfer not the club Old saying it's the arrow not the Indian Technology has proved a lot ... but it doesn't fix a bad swing. Go out and have fun. You're not golfing for a living. You're playing with your buddies. Drink a few beers , laugh a little , get a bite to eat , turn off your cell and enjoy the day. Been playing for 35 years. And there is no cure for a bad swing or a bad game. Just enjoy the day with whatever clubs you own That being said. Buy whatever you want. lol. We all spend money on what we don't need anyhow. You want a new driver , putter or new sticks. Go get them. Enjoy

I've always been perplexed that people want to hit a 7 iron 180+. 33 degrees is perfect. These clubs seemed to be set up perfectly for me. I'm a bit higher handicap than some might suggest use these but I don't 100% buy into that line of thinking.

Back in 1980 my friend had these irons, and I thought they were not only the best irons, but to me they looked like a beautiful piece of artwork. My family was rather poor and I knew that I could only dream about having a set for my own. But now some 44 years later I bought a set on EBay, and they just arrived today, and they look even more beautiful than I remembered. I haven’t been able to play for over a decade because of spine problems, but I just had to buy these when I saw them for sale. Love the squarish looking toe, and the Ben Hogan cameo on my irons are in perfect shape as are the grooves, except on the equalizer which just has a little bit of wear. Better late than never.

I never can wrap my head around this, could you explain why we call this upright or flat position when it's the opposite of what a club-fitter would do by adding (more upright setup position) or reducing the lie angle (more flat setup position). I appreciate your time.

@triptin244 ай бұрын
Could not control that shaft in testing. Come off like a rocket but was violently going left. Switched to the tour 2.0 chrome and it was insane. I could play all sorts of shots, great out of the rough to get around the green. I will be using this more then my driver and on bare lies it will be my bump and run weapon. Best hybrid ever made as long is you have the right shaft.

Hi Andrew. Nice bag set up! I chuckled when I saw the Ping # 2 hybrid. I have it in the G 425 and that club is a wonder. Its my favorite club in the bag. I have it set at 17 degrees and what I am going to do is get another and set it at 15.5 or 16 degrees giving me a # 1 Hybrid. Ping made a wonderful club with that # 2 hybrid. Here's hoping you get to play more golf my friend!!! I have been playing 2-3 times per week here in New England. Since I retired 2 years ago I have been able to play more golf and thats definitely improved my game. Best Wishes from Manchester, Connecticut . Joe

Great video. I bought a set of these when Faldo won with them around 1990. I was in my late teens. They were my pride and joy and I played very nicely with them (around 5 handicap). They have never been sold and sit in an old bag in my mancave. I’m inspired to take them out for a twighlight 9.
