thanks for great video , got fitted for these few weeks ago they arrived week later, custom fit 5 to UW graphite shaft recoil dart 75g reg half inch longer, with power spec lofts, have very slow swing speed due to numerous injuries, tried various others and these just felt so so good and performed the best, look great and feel great too, fun is back in my golf, greetings from South west Ireland

Went to ping for a fitting. Nice club but 29 degree 7 iron really spoils the club. Off astroturf during fitting got nice high flight. However hit some of grass and flight came down visibly. Would retro the lofts for sure.

I'll be getting them in Retro lofts apart from the 4 iron. I'll have that in Power Spec and use as a driving iron.

Nice to see a guy playing like me (one in the lake, one short and three on the green) and not one of these guys shooting straight rocket balls at 200 yards with a 7 iron. This makes the video much more interesting and much more realistic. Thanks a lot. I’m going to try them today and I’m pretty sure that, like you, i shall prefer a medium high shaft and the retro specs. Again thanks for this video.

best review yet ... honest

I would definitely get these in the retro spec. It's totally ridiculous how manufacturers have jacked the lofts to the point where the gap wedge is required and a 3 iron is mostly useless due to loft and the popularity of hybrids. I can remember when club manufacturers started moving to stronger lofts in the late 80s-90s. Pros constantly criticized them for making the pitching wedge way too strong at 48 degrees. Many resisted carrying 4 wedges to cover all the distance gaps. Fast forward to today and you'll see that most players have 1 or 2 hybrids and 4 wedges in their bags. It's almost as if the numbered irons are just filling the distance gaps between the scoring clubs at both ends of the bag.

I like Ping clubs but up to now only had luck with the drivers. Irons have just never worked for me. Having said that I will definitely give them a try. Thanks for the video.

Hi Chuck Worth trying a demo club if you get a chance.

Nice video, always have liked the Ping brand. Did the size change any on the 530 ? Also is the feel any better than the 525 ? I liked the 525 performance and looks but the feel kinda bugged me a little on them.
@andrewainsworth4978 ай бұрын
Hi Chad, did not notice any change on size or feel, very similar performance to 525.

Retro spec 6-UW would make a decent set....those lofts are strong..!!
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Hi Ian. They are strong lofted, as I said in the video unfortunately this is becoming the norm. Creating a need for less long irons and more wedges!
@davidgroom96679 ай бұрын
With those lofts, and the powerful face, you'd need 5 wedges!
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Hi David, Yes you are right, not a big fan of the strong PW lofts.
@danielberthiaume36489 ай бұрын
Not really. I hit this 7 iron -50 yrds as I am getting older and slower swing speed That still leaves me 4 clubs (8,9, PW and GW) for shots 150 in. I can also three quarter a PW for 75 yards in. Not every one hit their 7 iron 190 yrds.

Great review, thanks. Based solely on HC, would you say a 12-15 HC player could fit into this club?
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Hi, yes without a doubt. Go and get a fitting at a Ping Fitting Centre. Thanks for watching.
@craigconklin12359 ай бұрын
weird that the ping site shows the weight of that shaft being 105 in both R and S?
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Could be typo stiff normally heavier. Thanks for watching.

Thanks for the review Andrew.👍🏻I’ve been playing the i210’s since they were released (2018 ?) and often think of upgrading, but neither the i230 or the i530 seem all that different to me; of course, the i530 is hollow but other than that it looks very similar in size and shape to my i210’s (at least on video - haven’t seen them in person yet). I also get concerned when Ping uses the term “compact” shape as that’s not really what I’m looking for.😱 Anyway, just my quick thoughts - and thanks again for the review.

Hi Kyle, Similar blade length and size your i210's. Worth a hit if you get a chance. Regards Andrew

Hi Andrew. For some reasons I am not getting notifications of your new videos. I have the bell icon tucked and everything. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi Andrew, in the beginning of your video you said that all is positive about this club except 1 thing that you would mention later in your video....what is it ...or did I miss something. Friendly regards
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Hi, yes probably didn't make that point clear. The low backspin rates was concerning me only around 4000rpm with a 7 iron. I then changed the shaft to a mid launch shaft and the spin went up to a good rate. Best regards Andrew

Hi, when would these land if ordered now?
@andrewainsworth4979 ай бұрын
Lead time for orders in the UK is around 4 working days.

Ive played Ping stuff for so long my mates call me a "Ping junkie". My current set is the G series, around 7 or 8 years old so time to upgrade. However, im now looking at used bats purely based on price. Years ago I could say that Golf in Australia was affordable and club memberships still are, being about AUD600 for old goats like me but equipment prices are making me revise that statement. No doubt makers can justify £1295 for irons. That's close to AUD2500 for irons. Toss in a driver, 3wood, a couple of hybrids and some wedges and there's little change from AUD5000.. She who MUST be obeyed will not countenance such extravagant spending. It's quite sad Andrew.

Hi Ken, Yes club prices are reaching a new level. Best regards Andrew
@leeloopatsy9 ай бұрын
Totally agree with you. But the worse is that with that trend of launching a new model every two years the value of the older versions drops considerably. You can now find new i525s in stores with 30% off. And second-hand, it will be at least - 50%. Buying new golf clubs today is arguably the worst investment possible.

Being a Ping junky myself I miss the good old days when I could keep my ping eye 2 for at least 20 years.

I don’t care personally but imagine the amount of praise Ping would’ve gotten if they had just labeled the UW a PW.
