Hi, great vid. What was your speed trolling the bottom?
@Justahobbyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
I was slow trolling given the time of year, I believe it was 1/8oz split shot couple ft in front of a red gamakatsu #4 hook at .4 mph.

Good fishing! What time of year was this? Also that fish was a wiper, not a striper . The state record came out of there which was around 27lbs

This was mid may, definitely need to get out more, life has gotten into the way. Right now fish will start moving onto deep points. Mid August usually need to leadcore troll deep point in eye sight of the dam, def helps with a navionics type HD card to find the points. Haven't been out in 2 years. Need to get back on horse and boat is not ready

@@Justahobbyoutdoors my bad I just realized you had the date flash up on the video.. the size limit on the walleye at pueblo is unfortunate. Most of the walleyes I've caught are just under also. I havent fished there in a couple years as well. It seems to me they should have the same slot rules as mcconaughy where its 15 inches and only one over 22 inches...
@Justahobbyoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
@@davekohn6049 yeah no problem key is to not keep fishing the same school if they are all short, hop to a new spot and see if there is a difference.
@davekohn60492 жыл бұрын
My opinion is: you should keep the shorter fish and let the bigger ones go. Every decent walleye lake I've fished from Nebraska to Minnesota has had a shorter legal range for example. I'm not sure what they are trying at pueblo.. but it isnt working. Maybe the majority are stunted at 17 inches? I've fished that lake for 20 years and it's the same story..every now and then u get a solid fish. But mostly its 17, 17.5... same thing with the smallmouth..

Just found your channel. Great video! It looked to be pretty windy that day. What size split shot were you using to keep the bait in the strike zone?
@Justahobbyoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
It depended on the day wind and boat movement. I would need 1/4 typically on windy days and if I would be moving the boat between structure at .4 mph for tightening. You want those lines straight down.
@Justahobbyoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
If your line starts flattening behind boat then you need more weight
@kennethrutt79862 жыл бұрын
Have you ever fished from a pontoon? My wife is convinced she wants one, but I'm not so sure how easy it would be to fish from one as oppose to a fiberglass fish&ski type boat. What are your thoughts? We live up 285, so we would be going to 11 mile, spiny, and probably Dillon mostly. Maybe Boyd, Lake John, and Sterling; but a lot less often.
@Justahobbyoutdoors2 жыл бұрын
Only in sc and have a video fishing crappie from one sometime back in sc. You can fish from them but recommend a bow mount where the front door is, get big drift socks, rod holders,, electronics and can be good for fishing, but you will be limited on days to fish as they catch alot more wind than a boat.

you ever fish pueblo in winter months? been going there a lot recently and been mainly using bright color crank bait and have had no luck at all.
@Justahobbyoutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Not really, the fish are really scattered. You can have luck with jigging rap and spoons if you can find the Mark's under bait balls. Most will be scattered out deep. Jerk baits can also be effective.

@Justahobbyoutdoors4 жыл бұрын
It is a 2014 f150, not bad on power but using low gears is a necessity coming down, once down from steep switchbacks, they stop you and check temp of brake rotors and people dont read signs and ride brakes the whole way down.
