That's super cool that he switched from Pinstripes to clear emperors. I did the same thing. The clear emperors got a little bit more of a brighter more bloomier tone than the pinstripes. Plus thier double ply like the Pinstripes so thier pretty durable. Pinstripes are still great heads though and used to my go to head for my toms.

Camera man não tem idéia nenhuma de bateria pelo jeito. Filma o q o Portnoy não tá tocando, dá close em peças q ele não tá tocando. Horrível.

Dudes an absolute Gem. Wicked smart, organized and still genuinely fun which is a winning combo for life.

everyone can shit on him all they want but for all the same-y fills he does, his drumming hits the spot for me, and that's good enough for me

It’s awesome how much he knows about his own gear. I know sometimes people don’t really know anything, they just play what’s given to them but Portmoy knows his gear

It's a shame the production on the album doesn't do the ghost notes justice 3:38

Back in the day fans would ask in the MP public chats "Can Mike Portnoy teach me a drum lesson?" Part of his response was that that's why he made these isolated drums videos. I can definitely see what he means now. You can learn A LOT from MP just listening to the songs in the albums. These videos show everything even more amplified and with detail. Thank you for everything, Mike Portnoy!

I mean if that's your only job is setting it up and taking it down every day - that's like a 4 hour shift a day. Not that bad when you think about it. When you consider some jobs are like 8-10 hours a day.

Mangini and Jay Weinberg were both great drummers. But they will never in a million years capture the same soul the predecessor left. Thank god portnoy has come back.
