We stay in this "exact" room every time we visit New Orleans. I was going through some YT videos and came across this one and said it looked very familiar. Looked at my phone notes and yep it was the same exact room number we stayed in because of the awesome balcony. I smoke so I need a balcony to do so and this one has an overhang if it rains as most balconies there do not.

5:10 This is the only footage I can find before the bypass was built. This road was the main highway in and out of Lahaina. The time stamp shows where the road ends and takes you up to the bypass. Which is now our main road.

Quaker State Full Synthetic (previously Ultimate Durability) has a lot of moly in it and really quieted down the 2GRFE in my 2011 after a life of mainly Mobil 1, I made the switch at about 120k miles and never looked back. With Toyota filter of course, both were available at my local Walmart.

Be safe when you do so. It says road closed but I thought it was okay to go just to the bridge with the car and then walk from there to the middle or so. You can't go much further anyway because the pavement dips down right after the bridge and water is totally across it beyond the bridge.

The mower is a 1957-1958 David Bradley Tri-cut. David Bradley was a house-brand of Sears. It featured a 3 blade 47" cutting deck, the deck was not free floating, rather the whole mower moved up and down to adjust the cutting height, by using the front and back adjustment levers on the right hand side. Power came from a 5.6 hp Wisconsin engine, it was available with electric start. The dual rear wheels were an add on option. An advertisement for the mower can be found on page 1392 of the - 1958 Sears Spring and Summer Catalog -

I always have to laugh when I see those open gondola cars full of fans on an excursion moving at a good clip down the mainline. If it was even legal to do that on a mainline excursion today, the cost of liability insurance alone would be nuts!

Such a shame that this great looking loco was scrapped. Thanks for the work digitizing the 16mm home videos. Here in Oregon we actually have an old steam loco that sometimes is used for hauling box cars in revenue service near Albany. That old steam loco looks tiny compared to the box cars it shuttles around for the short line its operated for.

It is 100% “Super”, as you suspected.. I read all of your fam film digitized/archived video description! Yes on Power Windows being ‘Standard Equipment’ on 55 Roady’s ‘but’, ONLY on a Roady model 72R (2 Dr HT Rivera Coupe! Was an additional cost option for ‘all’ other models that year. The tell-tail signs that prove this one being a Super (4 Dr HT, obviously), rather then a Roady, is when you pause the film footage at several frame stops, just as your father was backing up, to leave, there’s the ever-so-slight glimmer of the chromed “SUPER” script, visible on rear quarter panel, just passed the rear edge of drivers side rear door.. same script glimmer is seen on passenger side rear quarter panel, a few seconds later, after turning car around to head out. The other signs of being a Super, ALL Roady’s, at least in ‘55, had a fancy BUICK Crest monogram/badge, on both sides, very small but definitely visible, just below the bottom of front door wing/vent windows’ edge, which this 55 Buick example, does NOT have. Lastly, its trunk deck-lid dual sided lifting handle, with BUICK GM Div Crest medallion in middle, was NOT on any Roadmaster.. Roady’s then, had two handles, spaced way apart from one another, with nothing in the middle of trunk deck-lid! 1955 Buick’s overall dimensionally SMALLER body sized series of both, Century & Special, have the upper-front-most body lines of rear quarters, sucked in, to create a sort of sweeping, cantered “C” shape, that’s highly distinguishable/recognizable. 1955 was the 1st year of seeing 4 portholes on fenders, like their bigger brothers, the Supers’ & Roady’s, indicating the Century ALSO being optioned with the larger then, 322 CID Fireball Nailhead V8… Special’s came standard with the smaller CID V8 &, MT gearbox. I own two 1955 Buick Super “56R” 2Dr HT Rivera’s, both with factory a/c… I’ve done extensive research on them over the years, S L O W L Y attempting the ‘full’ restoration of one of them; the other, was always intended as my parts donor car, which “might” become my HIGHLY rusty, ‘very’ patina, daily-driver, equipped with all of the worst-off parts, of rust, scratches, dents, etc., etc.. I hope some of whatever I’ve rambled on about, helps you out to whatever degree &, thanks for uploading this family film of yours! Edit: forgot to state that NO Roady’s had any sort of “ROADMASTER” series script on the sides of body.. just a somewhat subdued, angle-positioned/mounted, rather small “golden” script, on front elongated honeycomb grille, drivers side. A lot of small detailed insignia items of Roady then, we’re GOLD colored, including the “B U I C K” letters on hood.
