As to whether Ben was born on the Island as he claims, well we already know that he is a skilled liar, but also occasionally he tells the truth like his real name in this episode. So he could be telling the truth about his birth place. As to why Ben thought that Jack even needed to know about that little useless tidbit, was likely to get Jack to trust him if he creates the facade that he is opening up to him. But it was really rich of Ben to explicitly ask Jack to "trust him" that he will take him home after lying about his name and origins just a few days ago. Ben is the last person Jack would ever trust. Ben had a better chance of getting Juliet to get Jack to trust them, though her own credibility is open to serious question since she voluntarily works closely with the established liar, Ben. But its interesting that Ben recorded the Red Sox game and prepared the TV and Betamax VCR to be brought in quickly, foreknowing that Jack would not believe him about the Red Sox win. Was the game recorded while on the Island, or elsewhere and brought to the Island? Are the Others even big TV Baseball fans? Either way, it was a very impressive preparation on Ben's part.

The intentful zoom to the pearl necklace in the hands of Sun's lover after he jumped, strongly suggests (and pretty much confirms, to me) that he committed suicide. Why would Sun's father's men would make him hold the pearl necklace before pushing him? They wouldn't want his suicide to be associated with Sun at all. Plus, how would they know about the necklace in the first place? The gift never became common knowledge. You might argue he was holding the pearl himself before he was pushed and it wasn't intended by the assasins; and logically it would quite possible in real life that he was just upset and just wanted to hold the necklace while crying after being beaten by Jin, then he was pushed by someone who didn't care about the necklace and maybe didn't even realize he was holding it. I agree it's possible but this scenario doesn't fit the cinematic story-telling language. The director intentionally zoomed to the necklace to suggest it means something and the only thing it might mean is that the guy jumped out of the agony of losing Sun and the shame and guilt this situation made him feel. He might feel extra guilty because he would think if Jin knows he'd punish Sun badly too.

What do they want from Jack. I don't know. Does he posses something that no one else does? If they want something from Jack, why take Kate and Sawyer? Did Sayid Jarrah answer that question? Some people think the dude jumped after Jin kicked his ass, some think he was killed by one of Sun's father's goons. I think her dad was behind it myself. I always thought it was odd that Sayid asked Sun, what would you know about lying. I mean, didn't he know she lied to her husband about understanding English? That might be a clue. If the others can actually leave the island, why would they choose to stay there, that is an interesting question indeed.

So context for the Red Sox and Jack's reaction. About a century ago the Boston Red Sox traded away Babe Ruth, who went on the be one of greatest people to ever play baseball. They then failed to win the World Series for I think over 80 years, despite reaching it several times. This became known as the curse of the Bambino. The great Bambino being one of several nicknames Babe Ruth had. It's one of the great American sport legends, it even ended up changing the ending of a movie that was being made that year about a Red Sox die hard fan, which lead to them shooting a scene on the field seconds after the game ended. Which made pissed off a fair few people.

Still curious about where Jack received his training in guns. He had said back in Season 1 that he doesn't want to put guns in "untrained" hands, so it begs the question where he himself received his training. Especially since he swore an Oath of "Do No Harm" as a Doctor. (I recall a funny scene in MASH when the Pacifist doctor known as Hawkeye was ordered by his Colonel to fire his gun at the North Koreans. So Hawkeye looked at the gun and said "you're fired!" )

Ana Lucia killed an Other on the night the kids were taken. She found a list of their names in the Other's pocket. And, yes, the 2nd one she killed was Goodwin. "The maid did it" is my new go-to excuse for everything 😆 Personally, I think Jae jumped...but Mr Paik thinks that Jin pushed him. The necklace clasped in his hand suggests to me that he didn't want to live without Sun, so took his own life. Other people have also suggested that he jumped because of the shame of the affair. Jayce tries to compromise with him "what's your solution ?" and Heimer responds with a personal attack. Heimer isn't evil, he's just completely out of touch and high on his own power. @@AppleBaronokay but who are you to say how someone who’s dying should die? Who are you to tell them what dying with dignity means and how that’s better than what they themselves want to do? And who are you to tell them what morals they should uphold and just die already? Like we only live once, so no wonder people will want to keep on living, especially if they’re still young and have possibly a whole lifetime of time to live still. It’s easy to say that you should just die with dignity or upholding your morals when you’re not the one dying, but you don’t even know what their morals are and what dignity means to them. All you have is your view of dignity and morals that you’re trying to push on a dying person, telling them they should respect them for some reason.

With Vander gone, Huck had to find other ways to get by. He thought the shimmer he was given was the same that made Deckard a roided-up rage monster. Ironically enough, the vile of shimmer Silco hands him when he meets up with Vi and Caitlyn may very well have been the shimmer Huck had originally wanted but as he didn't drink it, we'll never know.
