Most commercial potting mix soil would work well for peppers. Add in a little extra compost/manure and they will thrive as they are not too picky of soil condition in my experience.

Thank you! I want to get much more in depth on so many more topics, but time is so precious nowadays haha. I am guessing you just order the plant recently? These plants that are being ship out now are grown in a fridge type of greenhouse climate so they will need some time to adjust to your current weather site. Did you transplant it directly in ground or container? If in ground I would provide some type of filer sunlight/shade for it and if in container then place it where it get very early morning sun and eventually give it more sunlight as the plant grow healthier.

I have several asian pears, but pears such as the shinko and 20th century only yield for me in northwest florida just between zone 8b and 9a after a colder than average winter. They did this season flower, but got hit with fireblight. I will check to see what pears I still have on them. Hosui, chojiro, korean giant, and my two chinese pears do not require as many chill hours and typically bloom for me. The chojiro is overall the best asian pear for me. It has never caught fireblight. The same is true of one of my chinese pears (Can't say which since the tags got mixed, think it is Ya Li). The korean giant seems also resistant so far to fireblight. All of these are supposed to need a pollinator that blooms at the same time. If you have only one pear choose one that is said to be self fertile. The keiffer is the typical single family pear tree.

Now with the ammonium sulfate, Could it be applied directly above the bush or around the bush when watering?
@natbackyardgarden3 ай бұрын
If the bush is in ground, make sure to apply it around the bush avoiding having it too close to the trunk if you are just applying it granularly. If you are premixing it then just applying it direct onto the bush.

For the blueberries in containers, I would advise you to use 1 teaspoon per 2 to 2.5 gallon of water. You can always increase the amount once you become comfortable and watch your plants carefully on their reaction to the safe lower amount beforehand. For the one in ground, you can apply a higher dosage depending on the size of your blueberry plants.

That would be so harsh- living in Texas but dealing with late freezes. I’m sorry that you have to deal with it. I have dealt with late freezes for the last four years but this year there wasn’t one. I was close. But I was upset and stressed about all of my plums, pears and peaches because they always bloom in February. I was too stressed and My garden wasn’t bringing joy. So I decided to change. I planted a lot of persimmon and pawpaw trees because they bloom late. They don’t have pest issues because they’re native and adapted. The key is diversity. You have diversity. And you’re right, the time goes by fast. I am on year 4 of my forest and I am in zone 7b South Carolina. It’s humid with bugs. I love your videos man. Keep the videos coming

Yup diversity is definitely the word for it! I also planted paw paw and persimmon a few years ago...there is always something to look forward to each n every year. It is quite opposite here with the dry heat and windy condition opposite from you, but the challenges is what make it so much fun ain't haha. Thank you so much for the kind words, I have venture upon your channel a while back through a link I saw on growingfruit haa.

We had a single, very prolific producing peach tree that had survived two fires, you could see the fire damage on the trunk. One year we had a late frost and no peaches that year, it looked like it was going to happen again the next year, we covered it in clear plastic and ran a diesel parking heater into the plastic to keep the tree from freezing and it worked, we were the only ones in our area to have fruit that year.

Hi Nat, and thanks for all the info. Questions: The green square containers in this video, where did you get them pls? And, do you recommend going from a 1gal container into a large container like the green one you have here?
@natbackyardgarden4 ай бұрын
I got them from Lowes during their late winter clearance for only 1 dollar each so of course I brought them all haha! They usually go for a whole lot more than that. If you have had experience with blueberries then yes it would be fine, but as a beginner it would be best to up pot to a 5-7gallon pot next and then to a 10-15 gallon a few years later depending on how large the plant grow. Reason being if they were in the larger container, your water would try to find the easiest way out n drain thus sometime your smaller root ball plant might end up dry and won't flourish.
