Dale Earnhardt was my hero. The day he died, NASCAR also died for me. I continued to watch nascar for several years after, but no one could take the place as my favorite driver. I grew tired of it as it was not the same without Dale. It's been years now since I watched a race, and the last time I did watch a race I thought it was awful. RIP Dale Earnhardt, you are and always will be my favorite driver.

My dad wept as we got the news of Dale's passing, and he wasn't a fan of his, but I was, since the first time that I actually sat down and watched a full race in the early 90's.

One thing about Dale Sr. that people don't really talk about is that he had to DRAG EVERY LAST BIT of performance out of the #3 car and fight his way through the field in race after race, given that once teams like Hendrick, Penske, Gibbs, and even to a lesser extent Roush and Yates established themselves, RCR was in many respects an underdog, with a comparatively old-school approach to operations and weaker aero development program compared to rivals. This meant that the #3 of Earnhardt (and later the #29 of Harvick) often qualified poorly (due to inferior aero numbers for the cars, at least compared to other top teams) and had to start in the middle (and even towards the back) of the field, meaning Earnhardt had to gain positions, especially on restarts and over the course of green flag runs...of course in an era when dirty air was less of a factor and it was harder to do things like aero block, drivers who could carve through the field were rewarded to a greater extent as opposed to in modern NASCAR (where cars are very aero sensitive)...

Never liked him, thought he was a dirty tactic driver and a sore loser...at times. I was a Bill Elliot & Rick Mears & Nigel Mansel fan. Was he a talented driver?..Of course he was. He certainly made his sport interesting, no doubt.
I watched drivers like Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty and many other drivers from different levels of stock car and Sprint Car racing and learn from them. Passing on the outside from Richard Petty , cross over move to pass paved track turns from Dale Earnhardt as well as on dirt from drivers like Brad Dotty and Steve Kinser, good starts and restarts from my dad. I'm not a die hard fan of Dale Earnhardt but I definitely have a lot of respect for him and his ability to drive a race car. He's definitely one of the GREAT ONES and I wish I could've raced side by side with him because it would've been lots of fun and I love being challenged in a race.

It's a shame nobody knows wants to know the facts. Ford denied the HEMI from ever winning a manufacturers championship. The 427 closed out the HEMI from 63 through 68 and the BOSS 429 closed out the HEMI in 69 and then it was all over. The Mopar boys brag about taking top three spots in 64 Daytona but seems to forget Ford took top five spots in 63 and 65. Mopar may have won the points part of the race but Ford won ALL OF THE MANUFACTURERS CHAMPIONSHIPS DURING THE LIFE OF THE HEMI. What that means is Ford won the most races each year during the days of the HEMI. And Ford and Mercury BOSS powered cars got banned at the same time time as the HEMI. PS, YOUR DODGE SUCKED, SUCKS, AND WII CONTINUE TO SUCK.

Other drivers would say that Dale could "see air" . You all have to remember that disrupting the aero off a car is part of the strategy in NASCAR .He was good at making other drivers lose control of their own cars and hence the name the Intimidator.

6G7 motors such as the 6G72 3.0L, 6G74 3.5L & 6G75 3.8L are all Petrol motors, The one you claim as a 4L V6 Petrol looks more like a Diesel motor and I have never heard of the Pajero having a 4L Petrol motor. Also most of their wins were in a Monocoque Chassis not body on frame. Love the Pajero, Most under rated 4wd on the market, at least here in Australia.

Its a shame professional nascar drivers are not being paid. Teams should do the sponsorship deals and hire talented drivers. Point blank. Its professional sport. By people buying rides will kill the sport, it takes away the best talented drivers. Nascar better fix it, or its a sinking ship if it continues, it will be all about rich kids racing not talented kids racing.

He could take a 15th place car and finish 2nd with it better than any race driver that’s ever been . Where most drivers would take 12th place car he would win in it ever time . Iroc belonged to Dale Earnhardt. I was at charlotte one Saturday for the then bush race , there was a green Chevrolet just kicking butt , didn’t know who was driving it but they were the best on the track, found outin victory lane it was , u guessed it big E. Had a chance , by chance , to meet and talk to him one on one for about 20 minutes one Wednesday afternoon, he was there tire testing, there I was little me , talking to DALE EARNHARDT, treated me like I was family, I was on a job interview, told him that , he told me if I got the job to look him up we would go fishing, got job , but I knew he was just to busy to go fishing with me , but followed ever lap from 1984 til 2001 , a real hero , miss

lets not forget. that geoff Bodine, and ricky Rudd wrecked dale as well...and often. also..that wasn't 'a pass in the grass' - dale said Elliot hit him, dale goes off the track and comes back on the track still in the lead...why- because he's dale Earnhardt, and bill Elliot wasn't. that's why bill was peed off.
