When I was introduced to watching racing sprint cars and Nascar by a friend who was a Ford fan in the 1980's I immediately being a GM guy saw Dale Earnhardt as my guy. I worked in a GM dealerships for 20 years with access to his collectables and seeing the show car at my dealership a couple times made me a fan for life. I still remember watching as he died at Daytona that fatefull day. I wore an Earnhadrt hat every day to work, on the softball team I was number 3 on my shirt. Three was always one of my lucky numbers even before I knew who Dale was. and still is.

He could take a 15th place car and finish 2nd with it better than any race driver that’s ever been . Where most drivers would take 12th place car he would win in it ever time . Iroc belonged to Dale Earnhardt. I was at charlotte one Saturday for the then bush race , there was a green Chevrolet just kicking butt , didn’t know who was driving it but they were the best on the track, found outin victory lane it was , u guessed it big E. Had a chance , by chance , to meet and talk to him one on one for about 20 minutes one Wednesday afternoon, he was there tire testing, there I was little me , talking to DALE EARNHARDT, treated me like I was family, I was on a job interview, told him that , he told me if I got the job to look him up we would go fishing, got job , but I knew he was just to busy to go fishing with me , but followed ever lap from 1984 til 2001 , a real hero , miss

I watched drivers like Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty and many other drivers from different levels of stock car and Sprint Car racing and learn from them. Passing on the outside from Richard Petty , cross over move to pass paved track turns from Dale Earnhardt as well as on dirt from drivers like Brad Dotty and Steve Kinser, good starts and restarts from my dad. I'm not a die hard fan of Dale Earnhardt but I definitely have a lot of respect for him and his ability to drive a race car. He's definitely one of the GREAT ONES and I wish I could've raced side by side with him because it would've been lots of fun and I love being challenged in a race.

I’m not taking anything away from Dale but without Dale Inman Richard stopped winning. Plus in 1985 Dale didn’t win any super speedway races because Bill Elliott won eleven of them and Darrell Waltrip and Neil Bonnet, Harry Gant,Terry Labont, Cale Yarborough and Greg Sacks won on the rest of the Supper Speedways. Terry Labonte was the only Chevrolet to run much over 202 mph at Talladega that year when he qualified at 204 mph. A lot of other drivers kept on winning as much or more than Dale did Petty didn’t but others did.

One thing about Dale Sr. that people don't really talk about is that he had to DRAG EVERY LAST BIT of performance out of the #3 car and fight his way through the field in race after race, given that once teams like Hendrick, Penske, Gibbs, and even to a lesser extent Roush and Yates established themselves, RCR was in many respects an underdog, with a comparatively old-school approach to operations and weaker aero development program compared to rivals. This meant that the #3 of Earnhardt (and later the #29 of Harvick) often qualified poorly (due to inferior aero numbers for the cars, at least compared to other top teams) and had to start in the middle (and even towards the back) of the field, meaning Earnhardt had to gain positions, especially on restarts and over the course of green flag runs...of course in an era when dirty air was less of a factor and it was harder to do things like aero block, drivers who could carve through the field were rewarded to a greater extent as opposed to in modern NASCAR (where cars are very aero sensitive)...

Nobody can deny Earnhardt's legacy and natural skill as a driver. But we have to face facts here. He was a dirty low down driver and a bully. No two ways about it. NASCAR let him get away with murder for 2 decades. Now I don't wish illl on anyone but it was almost like it was poetic justice that he went out in a race car. Atonement for all the dirty crap he pulled over the years if you will. But at the same time I honestly don't think there was any other way Earnhardt wanted to leave this earth than behind the wheel of a race car. Regardless of his tactics which I never liked I knew how important he was to the sport of NASCAR. And he in many ways will always be the embodiment of NASCAR racing.

I think you ruined this video with the crappy engine sounds. you could have at least used real nascar sounds.... just saying.

Its a shame professional nascar drivers are not being paid. Teams should do the sponsorship deals and hire talented drivers. Point blank. Its professional sport. By people buying rides will kill the sport, it takes away the best talented drivers. Nascar better fix it, or its a sinking ship if it continues, it will be all about rich kids racing not talented kids racing.

Plenty of arguments about it. Everyone else raced just as hard, but it was for 10th place. He got the attention because he was winning 🤷🏻‍♂️
