Probably a hematite. I have a large one that would fool a lot of people, but the gas bubble holes in the interior eliminate it as a meteorite.

Hello Mike! Great video! You inspired me to make this hike over the holidays. I live right at the base of the "Rock Waterfall" I cross the main Sacramento wash then follow the tributary was all the way up to the "Rock Waterfall". I have to go to the right of the box canyon on the tributary wash (About 1/5 the way up). I was not as brave as you are. I only touched the very first white rock at the base. You must be half mountain goat to get to the very base of the "Rock Waterfall" I didn't see the water trough. I was hoping maybe you could mark up a google map satellite view of the approximate location so I can check it out on my next trip up. We are riding our horses up there tomorrow. Thanks again! Wayne

Mike, how much did those little guys yield as far as spot price? what advice do you have for newbie hunters but advanced in metal detecting? im on victorville, ca alot of desert here and i know that meteorites can land anywhere, but where can i start around here?
@huntingeverythingwithmikem34588 ай бұрын
If you’re in Victorville, there’s a lot of dry lake beds around you. I would get out there and touch some rocks with a magnet. As far as price, I haven’t looked them up in quite a while. Don’t know what the market is for them right now sometimes more than gold though.

Tip for 5:43 A metal detector is not a magnet. Using it rotated you decrease completely its sensitivity. It must always be flat, parallel to the ground.
@huntingeverythingwithmikem345811 ай бұрын
Yes, a metal detector is not a magnet. I have used the front of my Joey coil thousands of times to pinpoint. Definitely not as sensitive but you can use it to help you pinpoint. Thanks for watching.

The magnet has nothing to do with the sorting. The copper pennies have a greater density and therefore a greater rotational inertia. The copper pennies take longer to build up speed and leaves the ramp at a lower speed. Hence the copper penny does not make it as far.
@huntingeverythingwithmikem345811 ай бұрын
Incorrect that does not work the magnets create what is called a diamagnetic. The copper molecules are slightly rearranged and slightly magnetic, which slows the penny down.
