Hello! Could you please share more information on the Mercury fuel tank cap? I have a similar motor and it had ran out of fuel in some tight places when I really needed it, so I am searching for a solution to quickly fill the internal tank. I think you dealt with the issue in a very elegant way and I would like to simply copy it :) How much fuel gets into the tank after a couple of squuzes?
@jasonstork9606Ай бұрын
Hi there. Rob has kindly made the cap print file available here. svelte.printables.com/model/1025636-mercury-35hp-4-stroke-fuel-tank-filler-cap-and-was Then you just need a tank, the fuel line and pump and an overflow return line back to the tank. I'd say the tank would fill in about 8-10 pumps but I suppose it depends on the fuel bulb pump you get. Certainly you can have the engine running again with just a few pumps. I hope that helps.

Thanks for sharing. I saw your boat on another video with a mizzenmast. I guess that’s more recently. This reminds me of a design called Reed of Grass, which is a little smaller and stitch and glue without the clinker hull.

Thanks Jason, Was a great few days sailing with the Queensland crew and well worth the effort of travelling up from NSW. You and the rest of the Tindarra team were fantastic hosts and introduced us to the fun of sailing Moreton Bay (making headway against strong tidal flows in shallow water was the ocassional learning experience). Cheers, Ric

Hi Jason, I really enjoy watching your videos, they are a really good pace and enjoyable commentary. I think Luna blu is an awesome looking vessel, do you know what it was designed on? Or was it a complete custom design and build? Thanks again keep them coming 🎉👌
@jasonstork96062 ай бұрын
Thank you! The design was done by Jim Inglis who is a retired yacht designer here in Queensland. The plans were never documented and only 3 hulls were produced from the timber frame moulds.
@jasonstork96062 ай бұрын
The hulls were built by Queensland Wooden Boat Association members. I'm lucky to have found her. Luna is the only one with a cabin I believe.

@jasonstork96064 ай бұрын
Hi Matt. The Octavia diesel handles it just fine. Combined boat and trailer mass is about 400kg. The fuel consumption went from 4.8L/100km to about 6.5 though, mostly the wind drag I suspect.

Yeah it's a very compelling design. The only slight negative is the keel which increases the draft and makes beaching difficult. But that same keel is what gives the boat so much stability and safety.

Now that's how you make a boat tour video! Fantastic boat, the space you have will make some envious. Jason I tried looking for more info regarding the tiller position holding setup, but couldn't find any thing. I read the video titles of Roger Barnes's videos, but the titles don't mention anything regarding the tiller. Do you have some resources you could direct me to? My plans and Full sized paper templates for the Welsford Navigator arrive Monday! So I hope to use your tiller setup!

Hi Jason, was looking at your myall trip again and realised you might be a godsend. I have a 16ft hartley and decided to shout myself a gaff sail. All went well until I tried to find a circular mast to suit. I've just noticed your friend Rob has an aluminium mast with a gaff rig on his pocket ship. Could you ask where he got it or any details that would help me build one. I realise this is probably no the forum for such a personal request but I'm getting pretty desperate and hoped you could help .
@jasonstork96065 ай бұрын
Hi Robert, his mast came with the boat when he bought it, but I can tell you how I built the mast on my Argie 15. It's more or less the same as his. The Argie hull was 15'5" long so probably had a bit less sail area compared to a Hartley, but here goes anyway. The Argie plans called for a 6 metre length of 63.5mm x 3.18 mm aluminium tube (I guess that's some imperial equivalent of 2.5" x 1/8"). I used 60mm x 3mm without issue. I bought it at the local aluminium supplier. I bought tangs and stainless wire rope and various fittings from Whitworths to fit it out. I plugged the top and bottom of the tube with wood and screwed a piece of sail track onto it to slide the sail luff into. With a gaff you can live without the sail track. The shrouds were attached about 1 metre from the top of the mast. It's all pretty easy. Have a look at my videos on Kalliope with the bermudan rig and you'll see the details.
@robertgarner88405 ай бұрын
@@jasonstork9606 thanks so much for responding to my query. I can get that dimension easily but I discarded the option because I thought 3.18 wall thickness would be too heavy. My next option was to build one in carbon fibre. Ps watched Luna blu from the start and have to admit I love the look of catboat rigs. Even considering putting a mast step in the Hartley bow to see if it would work. Thanks so much again.
