Many people feel the same way. In order to race here you need to have a very solid understanding of your car and your own limits and maintain an appropriate margin at all times. With experience I have learned ways to race it safely and I teach rookie drivers every year. Cheers!

Back in the early 90s I had a Formula S with a Saab 850 triple carb and Isetta front suspension. My wife bought it for me as an anniversary present from a dude in West Seattle for $1K. I sold it a couple of years later. I don’t have any idea who built it.
@StefanVapaa9 ай бұрын
Ok, have to ask... How the heck did it have an Isetta front suspension? The Isetta had a sliding pillar welded to a solid tube axle! The SAAB suspension is a massively superior unequal length dual A-arm arrangement.

Agree it is as too short and the start was too fast. I had set the fastest lap all weekend during this race which gave me pole for Saturday morning’s race. I purposely keep the pace slow to ensure we didn’t get a repeat of this race start chaos. Overall, it was a great weekend, with great racing. I’ll work on being less tentative in the bus stop 😊 Thanks for sharing the video.

Are you in Wilmington Delaware? I would love to copy that engine and make a casting of it. Maybe we could get together sometime.
@StefanVapaa Жыл бұрын
I am, yes. Do you make models of engines?
@Biokemist-o3k Жыл бұрын
@@StefanVapaa I do not want to make a model. I want to make actual engines. I have a duplicator that should be able to carve a foam replica of the engine and then make a casting. Then we can go from there and mill out the inside and when we have a perfect copy then we make a wooden copy so that we can make more. I Ama chemical engineer but I was hit while riding my 1957 Harley and nearly lost my leg and my life. I decided I was going to do what I love and not just work for someone else. I am starting a shop that specializes in pre WWI race cars and sports cars equipped with magnetos and/or distributors. I am going tomorrow to pick up set of AC Delco analog diagnostic equipment. Then next week I am going to Milford and picking up a Sun Autoanalyzer. My best friend is in Wilmington and has a business on Ayer street. The air going through the radiator has no exit except through the driver's cockpit. This is a very early Formula Ford and was designed and built in England where the races were shorter and the weather more mild, so maybe that was "ok"?

Thank you. Yes, you are missing something. What you haven't discovered yet is that the Sonett has a freewheeling transaxle. It has an internal freewheel, sort of like a bicycle, and it means that I don't need the clutch to shift down because the geartrain is essentially disconnected when I am off the throttle.
