Can I use Redline MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4, even though it says “for manual transmissions” for the transfer case?
@spalacios9058Күн бұрын
The MT-LV says it’s for manual transmissions. My 2017 4Runner is automatic, does that mean I have to use something different?

Thank you. You’d be surprised what a stock TRD pro can do. There is a lot of stock vehicles at this event and they performed just fine on the majority of trails. The event is great about listing what setup would be best for each trail so you know which ones to avoid.

In one of your previous walk-around videos you mentioned that the lift was a 3in Toytec lift. In this video, you said this was a 2.5in Toytec lift. May I ask what your front center hub to fender height is?
@destinationjourney_overland6 күн бұрын
This is a 3 inch lift in the front. The 2.5 refers to the diameter of the shocks, which is a larger shock body than their normal shocks. It allows for more oil for better cooling. The front suspension is adjustable between two and 3 inches. Check out ToyTec for their boss 2.5 Aluma series.

Nice work dude glad I found your channel. Can you tell me where to buy that cable and outlet for the fridge? Is that a cigarette lighter outlet? Because I have read some complaints about those. Or is it one of those Anderson outlets? I'm going to search now and see if I can find them.

Nice set up you got there. Where did you get your platform that you just insert the bolts with the lights? Thanks
@destinationjourney_overland12 күн бұрын
Thank you. I have a Prinsu roof rack. Prinsu makes a wind deflector with pod light mounting platform kit for Baha Designs LP4 pod lights. I discovered that the Auxbeam VUltra are the exact same size and the mounts work perfect. So instead of spending $3500 on lights, you can get these Auxbeam VUltra for about a quarter of the price. I explain it all in the video. Thanks for watching.

I have not had a single issue with these tires in the 4 years I’ve had them. This is my second set. I bought the 4Runner with 30k on it and the tires were half through their life at that time. Sit down great. Those are the OEM rims.

The brand I bought is no longer offered on Amazon anymore. But just search for battery disconnect and you will see similar switches. I have a simple on off switch and I mounted it to a 2x3 in aluminum piece of angle iron spray painted black and then bolted that to an existing tapped hole in the side of the engine compartment. Hope that helps.

Hi. I just received my 180 Degree OVS awning. Mind sharing the hardware that you used and their sizes/specifications to mount the brackets onto the roof rack? I.e. the hex fitting bolts that are attached to the T-nut as well as the size of the washer. Please and thanks. I am trying to find a hex fitting bolt at a local hardware store but cannot find them. Cheers

I used 1/4 20 stainless steel hex bolts. About 1 to 1.25 inches long with a 1 inch fender washer topped with a locknut

Any update on how it’s working I just upgraded my tundras battery to an AGM my alternator usually runs at around 13.2 after it’s warmed up. Does running this booster cause any damage to the alternator or over work it?

For the small scratches the tent had and the fact they sent it to me for the review, I didn’t bother reaching out for a replacement. But, I know a few people that have received a damaged tent from topoak due to shipping, and they received a replacement tent about a week later.

I really like the idea of a pit under the 4Runner to work on it. Did you build that? How deep is it and how do you keep things (kids, cars, etc) from falling into it?
@destinationjourney_overlandАй бұрын
That is my dad’s shop. He built that about 50 years ago. It’s about 5 to 5.5 feet deep and has about 20 2.5 x 10 inch boards that cover the opening when it’s not being used. You pull the car in first. Then remove the boards and slide them to the side.

I have this exact tent. Just installed it on my Sherpa crestone with 1” risers. When driving it whistles. Did you have any noise with tent after install? And if so how did you fix it?
@destinationjourney_overlandАй бұрын
I put a 3 inch piece of black electrical tape over the first crossbar on my roof rack after the wind deflector. I think the tent pushes air down and it gets into the channels on the crossbar. I covered the front channel of the extruded aluminum crossbar as well as the top 2 channels and that fixed the whistling. And with the 3 inch black tape you never even know it’s there. It blends right in.

Love that awning. Quick question, i have the same 5th gen with a Icon lift, (2.5")ish. I need it to still fit in my garage and was wondering what is your total height from the roof to the top of the awning with that rack and awning set up? Need to see if i can even fit it before i pull the trigger on thoes. Any info would be a big help. Thanks and awesome set up by the way! 👍
@destinationjourney_overlandАй бұрын
I do not have it installed at the moment so I can’t give you an accurate measurement. If I had to guess. And this is just a guess. It sits about 5-6 inches above my prinsu rack. The prinsu rack is probably the lowest profile rack out there. It sits 3.5 inches above the roof of the car when measuring at the front and back which are the tallest points. So I would say plan for an additional 9.5 inches above the plain roof when combining the height of the rack with the awning. Again, that’s just a close guess give or take an inch.

Can these be used as a Ditch Light? I love driving in ditches!
@destinationjourney_overland2 ай бұрын
Haha! I don’t see why not. They do throw light to the left and right side of the pod as well as the straight forward main beam. So you might light up your hood a little bit more than a light that is strictly forward facing.
@waynesanders14062 ай бұрын
Another alternative is upgrade the alternator and do the big 3 upgrade. I think that should be done first. Asking more charge from the alternator will indeed juice it faster. Get a nice $300 alternator from MechMan or Tucson Alterators capable of 270 amps and your charge will actually increase a bit as you but more load on it. It sits at 14.2-3, and when the lights and other accessories turn on it will climb to 14.5-7.

It turned out amazing. Am I understanding correctly, you wired 2 pair of lights (4 total), to one 30 amp circuit on your power switch? Also, why did you decide to go with 7 total lights? Was it because Prinsu already made the wind deflector to accommodate that?
@destinationjourney_overland2 ай бұрын
You’re correct. I did four lights on one circuit three on the other. Each light is around 6.5 amps according to their specs. Which would be 26 amps on one circuit and 19.5 amps on the circuit that has 3 lights. I ended up with seven because of the wind deflector from Prinsu that I found, and from looking at the distance between the lights thought that looked the best. Another thing that I thought about - You could also put Amber lights on one of those circuits and white light on the other, if you wanted to have that option as well.
