To emphasize @puppyash9656‘s comment, the “mansion” was depicted by an actual* building, but the interior set (a soundstage at Paramount Studios) EXACTLY mirrors the original board game-including which rooms are connected by the secret passages! *The “still” images of Hill House were Matte paintings done by Albert Whitlock. The Ballroom and some of the exterior shots were filmed at the Max Busch House in Pasadena, California. Unfortunately, the House was destroyed in a fire in 2005. [Per Cluepedia Wiki]

Clue has a lot of adult humor that I didn't pick up until well after my repeated watchings as a kid. "You lure men to their deaths, like a spider with flies!" "Flies are where men are most vulnerable!" 🤣🤣🤣 I grew up on Clue, so it's a movie I can recite beat for beat and yet never get tired of watching 😅 We don't really make this kind of comedy any more unfortunately, but I would recommend Hail Ceasar and The Hudsucker Proxy (both from the Coen Brothers) for more in this sort of retro comedy style. Also, the work of The Marx Brothers is largely where this style originated. They did fast talking punny humor, as well as musical and physical comedy (start with Night at the Opera if you want to get into their movies)

Tim Curry doing a manic high speed recap of the first two acts for the finale is just hilarious. He carries the third act on his sweating brow 🥵 and I love that he picks Mr Green to be his punching bag 🤣🤣🤣 For Tim at his absolute best - The Rocky Horror Picture Show 💋 After that, he's very funny in Oscar, a fast talking gangster comedy with Sylvester Stallone and Marisa Tomei. He's also overacts his butt off in The Shadow, a pulp superhero movie with Alec Baldwin and Ian McKellen.

Madeline's always a delight! Her 'flames' tirade was improvised, so everyone's reaction was genuine bewilderment. You'll see plenty of her when you get into Mel Brooks' movies, particularly Young Frankenstein (you don't need to watch the Boris Karloff Frankenstein first, but it might make it funnier) and High Anxiety (which is on your list 😉)

Detective Mozy is on the job! Seriously, some good guesswork so far! And truly, you don't f@%k with the original!! Albeit like you said, this one comes quite close. But not gonna lie, this part is the one I came to reexamine and reevaluate the most; back then, I thought it was the most pretentious and out of touch, but now I see how eerily prescient and how, much like the last one, ahead of its time, the film was about issues like online fame and attention. Even Robbie's new "rule of horror" are now the norm, sort of, when you think about it. And agreed, this Ghostface, along with the motive behind the killings, was the most deranged so far. I would definitely recommend continuing with #5 and #6. Oh, and I can't believe I didn't think of it before but I echo another commentator - you must, must check out _Scream_ 's sort of predecessor, the original _Slumber Party Massacre_ ! And likewise, come on, Mozy! The _Saw_ franchise is one of the best products that came from the twisted minds of two then hopeless Australian dudes, haha! Try it at least out of sense of national pride! As in, just turn the screen on and think of Australia, haha.

My favorite quote from this movie: Professor Plum "What are you afraid of, a fate worse than death?" Mrs Peacock "No, just death, isn't that enough?" Eileen Brennan is one of my favorites. From my understanding the scene where Mrs. White was confessing to killing Yvette, Madylin Kahn (the actress playing White) improvised the flames lines and that it caught the cast all by surprise that they had to cut the take because the entire cast couldn't stop themselves from laughing. Another movie she is in that I think you may like for spooky season is Young Frankenstein. It's just as ridiculously funny as this movie. And if you like murder mystery movies you might like the Knives Out movies, if you haven't seen them yet.

For real, Mozy, the past is not at rest with this one! Honestly, I did not like it that much when I watched it the first time compared to the first two, still think is still the "weakest" of the entire franchise, but much like you said for Parker Posey's character, it kind of grows on you over time, albeit that might just be nostalgia overall. Like somebody else wrote in the comments, blame the troubled production but I think the problem was that even with best intentions and means, the film is quite uneven (pardon the echo, haha!): both the intentional and unintentional humor is rampant in the film while individually some of the scenes with Sidney are the creepiest and most disturbing - "as!" like you would say! Add to it the behind-the-scenes commentary on Hollywood debauchery and the viewer gets a tad lost in it all. That said, the same commentary was on bloody point! (if sadly ignored by being way ahead of its time!!) Also, personally Sidney's character is my favorite in this one, Jen Jolie steals every scene, and Roman turned up to be worthy villain (and good looking too! woohoo!). If anything, it's definitely the funniest film of the franchise - your laughter was again sooo infectious! Onto _Scream 4_ !!

We all need a Gale in our lives, Mozy! And the romance between Gale & Dewey is or rather was genuine since the involvement of ther actors at the time. Yeah, this sequel is usually considered to be best of the franchise (albeit it aint my favorite in some aspects) given its more elaborate meta-commentary, some shocking twists and ofc the iconic cast (and yep, Jerry O'Connell / Derek is true boyfriend material! woohoo!). I would definitely agree while the first one was more suspenful and surprising in story development, this sequel leans more into horror, with some deaths (or presumed deaths) waaay more bloodier and gorier than expected. I assume you will watch all of entries in the franchise, so now im wondering which will turn out to be your favorite. Towards _Scream 3_ !

First of all, kudos on catching up. Your reactions were great. Though I never thought it was as scary as your letting on. 😂 But unless you watch this 2-3 times, you probably missed things or didn't understand things. Was it the devil? No, it was a demon named Pazuzu, which the statues at the beginning represent. Merrin's encounter with the idols indicates 1. That he has encountered the demon before (watch exorcist beginnings with skarsgard), and 2. That he's about to encounter it again. Why did the demon react to tap water? Because, if the church doesn't believe it's a demon they won't cast it out. If I'm honest, this movie makes me angry more than scared, because of how much that poor girl has to go through and the misdiagnosis, and that even the church didn't believe in the demonic (like, why does the church or the crucifixion even matter then???). Anyway, enjoyed watching this. Cheers!

Well, back to basics for me. But how, Mozy? Not asking why, but *how* does an 80s/90s kid miss the _Scream_ franchise until 2020s?? Thankfully, the mystery only adds to the appeal as its always a treat watching a (handsome!) reactor doing this film for the first time! The twists, the actors, the jump scares, you name it! Just that opening is so iconic in its brutality ( albeit it borrows quite from Fred Walton's _When A Stranger Calls_ ), and I knew you would enjoy the tone and witty, almost satirical take on horrors, slashers in particular. And to make it even more funnier, it basically singlehandedly revived the genre, with the likes of _I Know What You Did Last Summer_ (definitely checking that reaction too!), _Urban Legend_ , _Valentine_ and tons of others! Well, _Scream 2_ next then!
