I bought a lodge cast iron pan 45 years ago and it’s the best pan in my collection. Gets better and better with age.

I bought a whole set of Cuisinart pots and pans for the price I'd have to pay for one stinking frying pan with a crummy handle and lid. They've lasted me for almost a decade because I use silicon utensils that don't scratch the surface. They also have nice lids and handles and the larger pans can go into the oven if I want to roast something.

the design can be fixed, but if the coating really works it could be great. I'm always wondering: what's the catch ?

Thanks, I didn’t know that’s how Made In claimed the 5-ply until now. I finally took the plunge with a Japanese stainless steel pan and they claim 7 layers but there are two sandwiches of aluminum alloy separated by layers aluminum so I guess that’s 4-ply? Only straight up sides as an option though. Looking forward to seeing how well I can cook with it compared to my carbon steel and cast iron pans.

But without actually testing it for a year, and scraping it hundreds of times with metal utensils, and throwing it in the dishwasher a few dozen times, how do we know if their claims of longevity are true? Because if they’re not, it’s just an extremely overpriced nonstick pan like any other. Every nonstick pan claims its coating is invincible. So far, it’s never true.

Question please. With the that wooden spoon covering the opening; doesn’t that solve the problem of the steam coming out?

Thanks Andrew! Another great review. Guy Fieri has titanium pans out now. A 10 & 12-inch set is $79.00. I am going to try those real soon.

I absolutely agree with your video. I have had 3 ceramic coated skillet pans and in my experience, I would only get around 10 to 20 uses before the sticking problem became so bad that the pans were useless thereafter. PTFE and similar chemistry has been around a long time and has always been a good non-stick coating. There is always a study coming out demonizing whatever is commonly used in order to make market room for something new. I'm very skeptical about the "studies" that show PTFE being any more harmful than using most everything else today such as detergents, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, ... you name it! Remember the "Better living thru chemistry" philosophy of a few decades back? Well were in it, like it or not.

With atainless steel pans your either: - burn everything - soak your food with tons of oil (good look to your health) - make a mess because everything is sticked

My favourite pan is a steel (not iron) pan made by Salter. After seasoning, and a couple of years use it doesn’t rust and is more non stick than a stainless pan, though not as good as a ceramic or Teflon surface. However, you can use any kind of utensils quite roughly without any fear of damaging it. It cleans easily as well. One niggle is the handle covering which is rubber and tends to slide off. I don’t remember the price, but I never buy expensive cookware so it was at least affordable, and most likely fairly cheap.

I'm pretty sure by "performance warranty" they mean any manufacturing defects that effect the performance. I sincerely doubt they're going to cover you if you scorch the non stick coating, scrub it off with steel wool, or damage it with metal utensils.

If steam blows out at that rate, then it's letting you know to turn down the stove anyway, so I don't see a problem, more of a feature. And the square handle, at least it doesn't rotate like rounded handles do. And if it releases better than all stainless steel, cast iron and carbon steel, that's a win. And it's not teflon or ceramic so it won't wear out. 200 bucks is not that much comparing to high end brands. Looks like a winner to me. High sides and large bottom area with lid. You can both fry stuff AND do all-in-1 dishes. I don't see any downsides.

Been using $10 Ikea Chef's knife with rubber handle for years. Works fantastic. Super easy to sharpen. Super comfortable. Why do I need anything else? And even If I did buy some fancy a... Japanese/German knife, I'd still go back to the cheap Ikea one. Probably mainly for the handle comfort.

👨🏻‍🍳 It's a metal handle so it's going to get hot anyway. The steam blowing on the handle is a constant friendly reminder to be cautious when you grip it.

Raised indents allow air flow but adding oil should negate that? If I'm going to have to use oil, i may as well keep using my stainless for cheaper but a tiny more effort.

I had copper core All-Clad for YEARS, both pots and pans.... during 2020 their service was non existing, while NYC.... ground zero, Demeyer ANSWERED THE PHONE. They have FAR superior service and warranty too. So I swapped all my All-Clad to Demeyer and was blown away. All-Clad copper core is not even close. Demeyer is lightyears ahead of All-Clad, in every way. Yes, they're heavier... but that is also one of the reasons they work so much better. Also, in terms of food sticking, I'm not sure what Demeyer does in its manufacturing, but whatever it is it works. No contest, night and day difference..,.. get the Demeyer. All-Clad is a company that has not innovated in 4 decades and their customer service team are old disgruntled ladies who will not be very helpful.

I have purchased 2 blue diamond N.S. pans at my Smith's Grocery Store. For 19.99 each, 10 inch i am well pleased. Wish they would stock the small one too. I cook with Propane thanks to the Natural Gas B.S. My guy can't cook without HIGH heat which ruined my "Copper" Pan. He is not to touch my B.D. pans,or i'll brain him with one. He previously ruined the Green one that was around 10 years ago. I am older therefore i am not looking to invest $ in new Pan sets. He has been banned from washing any of my "stuff" as he grinds food off. He has no gentle touch. He also gets to buy all his own scrub sponges for same reason. Yep do it my way or don't bother, i tell him. SMH
