Does Toyota or even any parts houses sell the APPS (automatic pedal position sensor)? The deal the drive-by wire is attached to on the throttle body. And I'm assuming the device with the four pin connector directly under the tps is the accelerator motor? Anyway. The telltale (I've been in the discussion forums since the late aughts on this unobtainian tps sensor) is you'll lose power for 100-200 ms/under medium / heavy load & the pedal is being held at a constant rate for a few to a dozen or so seconds. ie, not accelerating nor deaccelerating. Constant pedal position. And you find this symptom then the TPS is the culprit. Ive dealt with this for years. Limp home method until you can swap out the TPS (finally available) is to never use cruise cntl & quickly pump on the gas. Glad og issue was an easy fix. Probably not so much so in the rest belt.

Glad you caught it. 👍 I saw your post of Facebook. It was correct in your picture. Did you take a picture when it was backwards? For me….Rule #1 is always take pictures and reference the manual when working on your Jeep. Anytime I work on something I’m not 100% confident of…I will lay everything out and make sure it’s all in the correct order and orientation before assembly. All of the major parts suppliers get their parts from the same vendors. No matter who you buy from I always recommend having the manual handy to make sure it’s all going back together correctly.

If you were not doing any machining, did you sand the top of the engine and the bottom of the head?

My needle has a spring on the back side. Would I set the 3/8" float spacing with this spring compressed or uncompressed? Also, the spring for the top of the metering rod... when I installed per the video the metering rod was binding and would not snap down when released. I had to move washer to the back side next to the nut (plus lock washer) and this allowed it to move freely and snap back when released like you said. This is how my original spring was on the metering rod.

rotaries are fun but you need more low end torque for climbing and rotaries are notoriously bad at low end torque, fuel mpg, and reliablity. thats why they are in light sports cars not 4x4's. if you don't have a low of low end torque then you'll need really stupid low gears to make up for it!

You still have done anything but repeat what you’ve heard. 😆 No one said they are “torque monsters” haha… but they do make great linear power at a much larger rpm range than most engines. I’m willing to bet you’ve never owned or driven one haha!
@mromatic1717 күн бұрын
@@redeyecafegarage7484 i used to be a mazda tech bro. they make all their power way up high they are great for light sports cars. if its a turbo rotory engine they make a lot more usable power below but you still have to rev them out to move. for off roading you need low end torque and low gearing to climb and get your way up what you are going for. yes its cool seeing a rotory swap in a jeep deff cool not the best power plant for the purpose.

well, amc was going to buy the wankel motor from GM, but atr the last minute GM pulled out of the deal and sold the motor to mazda. the move ultimately killed amc a lot sooner than might have happened if they had gotten the motor. they had sunk a lot of money into the pacer, which was supposed to run that motor, but after gm pulled that on them they had to scramble and some how fit one of their existing motors into that car. made them heavier and less gas efficient than they would have been with the wankel.
