When you are not using the garden put a cover crop to fix nitrogen into the soil for next planting.

Manure is fertilizer. It's not a manufactured fertilizer. Rabbit pee and pig cow poop is also fertilizer to ammend the natural local soil. Anything bought at a store is not natural. Go to a local farm that has cows and horses and see if you can get some of the manure.

Wow!! Amazing!! I have been searching for the best countertop mix and have been undecided between the Quikrete mix and another brand sold on the web. After watching your video I decided to go with the Quikrete as it is more accessible and a little less expensive. Do you mind sharing how many bags did it take? Thanks again for the very informative video.

I’d never use aluminum with concrete. Doesn’t matter what you put on it that aluminum will eventually turn to a white gross material. I see it every day at my job where the aluminum meets concrete. Not to mention it’s a very soft metal and scratches easily. But hey it’s your kitchen not mine.

Completely shading the exterior walls with overhang dimension would knock off a degree or two. In south Louisiana that was the purpose of the wrap around second story balcony/ porches to avoid direct sun on the walls.

Pouring concrete, without plastic underneath it, is a really bad idea. The sand ground will absorbe the water out of the concrete bottom layer, and because of that it can never become as hard and solid as needed, and will crack easily. Also you pored the concrete without a metal mash or fiber strings. I wouldn`t have done it that way.

i recommend planting some trees from the out side of the garden it'll keep the garden inside a bit cooler and a bit shaded from the hellish sun of the summer like maybe papaya or madras thorn they have delicious fruit maybe even a palo verde you could even plant a prickly pear or a peruvian apple cactus all really good and can survive there
@RedandAprilOff-Grid
@RedandAprilOff-Grid 4 күн бұрын
Yes, great idea! I tried a Palo Verde tree and it was doing fantastic, but it froze the last two winters. It has to come out from the roots, so it's more like a bush. We get down into the single digits, so we typically have to select trees that are zone 7 or lower. I have been having good success with Mexican Bird of Paradise. They are fast growing and seem to like our climate and soil. I planted a row of them from seed along the outside of the fence, as well as a desert willow, so hopefully we'll have more shade soon. 🌱😊
