I notice he listens patiently to the question with no tendency to butt in. A great interlocutor.

It is a pitty that he was born in an age in which he was not able to be himself. He passed much too early, what a terrible waste. Rest in peace, Mr. Williams.

Such a sad end to a brilliant life. If he'd only been able to put his mother in a nursing home he might have had a better chance of living a more fulfilling personal life. Instead, all he could do was to isolate himself behind the facade of comedic 'happiness'. All I can say is: 'Thank you Mr Flaring Nostrils for brightening our lives'.

Lena was a unique talent. Gone to soon, destroyed by stardom and those around her! What a tragic ending, Rip Angelx

A truly tragic figure plagued by demons of his own making. This last outing is not as bad as people have made out over the years. The material and direction is biggest problem. Had it been handled by others with a better understanding about what made the original Radio and TV shows special the outcome could have been so different and he may have finally come to terms with and embraced Hancock in the same way Coogan was able to with Partridge.

I always think people read far too much into stuff like his diaries people feel different on different days we seem to want to create this image that in his private life he was this sad depressed individual. I don’t think that’s true I think he had his dark days and his good days like almost anyone does we’ve all had dark thoughts at somepoint he just wrote them down and people decided to focus on the dark side more. We dramatise things and make him into this tortured character but I don’t think that’s really fair he even said in interviews how stupid he felt about some of the depressing things he wrote in his diary most were just passing thoughts and nothing more.

In my 68 years on this earth - I've heard them all - Whitney, Mariah, Donna, Celine, Adele, Tina...etc - but I have never ever been so mesmerized by a performance such as this. I sit with beer in hand and just stare and listen to this beautiful tragic young lady....and have been doing this many times over the years - my gosh - what could've been.

Regardless of his political opinions I am afraid Kenneth Williams comes across as rude and self-centred here, like an ignoramus actually . Good to see Maggie Smith and Betjeman staying classy.

Hancock was extremely troubled and this is a difficult watch after the brilliance of such as The Blood Donor. As talented as he undoubtedly was dropping Galton and Simpson was catastrophic.

The best comedians can't do anything with a weak script. The canned laughter is poorly integrated, producing laughs when there isn't even a joke. It trivializes the whole show.

Nowadays a talent like that would be making very good money with a one man show, and after dinner speaking. But he was so conflicted lonely and unhappy. That was the age when two grown men (Morecambe and Wise) could do a comedy routine in bed together and no one thought anything of it. But to be openly gay, was impossible.

He's absolutely battered, that's a career alcoholic, he would have been like that every day. Shame, to drink like that he would have some real mental battles going on inside that he had to escape from and drinking was the only way he could find relief. It only makes things worse though.

not sure if it's the style of the interviewer or the calibre of subject, but there is a brightness of intellect which is sadly lacking in todaze so-called celebs. You used to see it on Parkinson, it was all a little less insulting to the intelligence. Stone me, sorry I went off a bit there.

well done for this, a lifelong fan and had never seen this. Of course, it's sad because we know the ultimate outcome. He was never bettered and had no equal. There's a slight parallel with Peter Cook, not the style but the sad end of another truly singular man.

Sometimes Michael Parkinson could be very provocative, cunning and sly. I think he set up. Kenneth hear it must not be forgotten Kenneth and Maggie Smith were very close personal friends, and I think she is upset when she sees what’s happening.
