It doesn't matter whether it was due to the shaft. . The imbalance can be removed with the diamond device "Tormek TT50" and the grinding stone can be dressed like new. Then there is no more imbalance and it runs smoothly again. At most you could just replace the main shaft bearing Greeting

Very good work .me personally I prefer to attach the skales to the knife first then shape the handle Wild attached instead of individually, cutting out each side I tend to make a lot of mistakes doing it that way, and less mistakes, actually attaching them first, then shaping them but hey to each their own me personally I just felt like I made fewer mistakes, attaching the scale first then shaping versus cutting out each individual scale to match sides great work on your blade. I found your video informative.👍🏽

info: that thing works really great when the stopping force is not to big so when you are able to grab the De-speeder and hold up against the momentum of the lathe it works but after M12 it gets really hard to get a hold of. Thy for sharing this manificent idea =)

Nick, just got one of these and did the deep cleaning also - a problem is that the clamp/vise rotates on its axis without a lock - I see zero on the right at 3 o'clock but there is no way for me to tighten a screw or clamp to keep it there - what is missing ? - help . . . .

I wouldn't worry about copying other makers on youtube, your followers may not follow everyone you do so may not see how they do things, so it's good to share. You may have improved loads now with the WA handles, however Simple Little Life has excellent videos on making/ fitting WA handles. 🙂

Hello Nick , very good video! Thanks! What is that orange motor in the top right corner? A guy of mine puts a corrugated washer behind the rubber impeller, a thin corrugated 12mm washer and doesn't tighten the nut/bolt quite so tightly. Then the bike won't wobble quite as much

I just got through taking off the wheel on my SuperGrind 2000. Your way of removing the wheel is the easiest way to go. Definitely a design flaw by Tormek to not use a Stainless Steel shaft (as all new shafts are)to prevent the inevitable rust freeze of the shaft to the grindstone. I did watch an instructional video by two Tormek technicians on their system. They recommended placing some machine grease in the plastic bushings. I'm awaiting the arrival of the new SS shaft. Cheers from across the pond. Don M

Very useful video for me, I like the idea you could copy the printed picture. If you where to take the tip from a ballpoint pen you might be sble to mount it on the scriber. My machine has a diamond point and it would copy your picture more finely, I'm not sure but it may also engrave the netal better .Thanks for a great video

If you want to engrave a shape, such as you have tried, make a former/pattern. I use a base of 20thou styrene, cut out my pattern in the same material and stick it to the base. Use a round blunt follower and go round your pattern. You can make the pattern 2 ,3 or 4 times bigger than the finished work to improve the result. Note that the follower and cutter need to be in the same ratio as the pattern and shape. For a pattern twice the size of your shape the follower has to be twice the size of the cutter. Pantograph Services will grind cutters to any shape/size. I have some parallel cutters from 0.5mm to 2mm in 0.5mm increments. The problem you would have with your leaf shape is getting a true 'V' - even a 0.5mm cutter would leave a curved base but you could file it out.

I did my etching on a piece of steel, I see what you mean with the excess water and the lil tiny holes around it, the second time I wrap it much better and it came so much better zero holes, I proceeded to put it on my blade spine and is pretty clean for my first one, once again is very much appreciated, I'm proceeding to find better ways to wrap the stencil , to be continue.@@Ukenick

Thank you Sir, for your video, I found that the Tormek TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool - Keeps your Stone Round and Flat is a worthwhile investment. A previous owner must have used the stone without water causing a gouge in the wheel. The diamond dressing tool brought it back flat and round. After watching ALL the instructional videos that Tormek has posted on KZbin and what I have learned from them, I would NOT let just anyone use my Tormek. And yes, I have spent 5 times as much on the various SuperGrind 2000 attachments from Amazon that I need for my wood carving tools. The Tormek TT-50 Truing and Dressing Tool was the last accessory I purchased but it should have been the FIRST. It looks like the E-Z Lock shaft may be next. LOL

Thats how they get you, doesn't matter if you get a Tormek with about half the attachments ever made for free, you'll still end up buying the other half + stone & wear items so it's a win for them regardless.

You may find that the old shaft was not the problem but that the old wheel had never been ‘trued’. The stone grader will make the wheel flat but not round / concentric - to do they you need a diamond truing tool they tormek sell - pricy at about £80 (but then all tormek stuff is) but this should save your old wheel for general use if you so wish.
