As a young child playing this in the 1980s I never got anywhere 😂 watching the 7 minute play through I have no idea how anyone could do that lol

Unpopular opinion: Alien 3 is my favorite alien movie… at least the assembly cut etc… irregardless of flaws… reason being it was the first Alien movie I saw as a little kid. Love the Dog Alien. Also like how brutal some of the scenes are and dark it is.

An Alien Isolation version of Alien 3 would be awesome. Imagine trying to survive on Fury 161. Prisoners could act as threats or allies,a hybrid alien as a stalker, runners similar to the RE zombie dogs and maybe even WY soldiers😮 This would be my dream Alien game😁

@czam0584 oh I could totally get behind that!

I loved this retrospect, @ItsMatticusFinch. Another game from this exact era was, In Cold Blood. An under-rated gem. Beautiful pre-rendered backgrounds with tank controls. But it was an amazing action-adventure/ story created by Revolution Software. I’d love for you to review it like you’ve done here for Fear Effect ❤

To all the people saying you should have played the amiga version... Wrong. You should have played the c64 version which had the best music.

You know what it actually probably owes more to? Alone in the Dark 2: Jack is back. Movement speed, camera angles, general feel. Hope you'll cover that too at some point.

You wish more people remembered this? okay... "Glaaaaaaaaaaaaaasssss" I'm late to the party, mate but keep it up. Your vids are good. "I'd prefer if you call me by my true name... yim... lau... wong." Clunky game, excellent story, art and even the voice acting is fairly good.

Yeah, that was pretty much my experience too. Then I fired it up later on Switch and my experience was... .....exactly the same despite having plenty of experience at the game.

Oh you poor lad, Alien 3 the gun was awesome, the pulse rifle was massively chunky and firing off missiles with the side button was a joy. Pretty sure the gun vibrated too. Had it in a bowling alley my family used to go to. Hard as nails though it was an absolute coin muncher.

I think what a lot of people miss when they go back and look at games is how it was at the time. We didn't have all the quality of life improvements, quick saves, checkpoints etc. We were used to it. And even though I found Alien 3 frustrating as a kid, I always came back to it for another try. Games were generally shorter back then and not massive time investments, although some could be. Then there's the fact that games back then were also that... games... and not daily login quests or... ahem "services". You wanted to go back to them.
@ninjapirate473 ай бұрын
I was thinking it right before you said it, Mega Drive's (deal with it yankees!) Alien 3 had AWESOME music, the title screen slow dark intro, jamming tune afterwards, game over screen and the in game tracks were all stellar. And yes... it's better than the snes version. Come to terms with it!

Real endings and adding cutscenes in games started in the 1980's, but slowly became more widespread by the end of the 1980's and early 1990's. Still, some developers didn't care.

My previous message last night didn’t go through but just wanted to say I’m rewatching this because your Metal Gear vids are great so far. Can’t wait until you talk about Twin Snakes cutscenes. Also you should start a D(scord (has to misspell because KZbin seems to delete messages with that in it. That way your subs can all get together and we can talk about the vids you make and possible future ones! :)

You're very kind thank you! I've a couple of videos I'm working on at the moment and then I'm going to be focusing on getting the MGS 1 video done! I have a Cord of Dis but it's not particularly active at the moment (my own fault mainly).

Isn't water being deadly a requirement for European platformers from the 16 and 32 bit era? I mean, drops of water are dangerous! Kinda makes you wonder if a fear of acid rain was sweeping across Europe in the 90's.

The NES version of Alien 3 does have completely distinct level designs and music, so although it has the same gameplay style as the Mega Drive/Master System/C64/Amiga, it’s not a port of the same game as those.

Its nice effort, but Sadly its nowhere as good as sunset riders, which is my fav run n gun shooter ever...it has too many cheap deaths, unbalanced levels, bosses, and no way to disable "nude" parts to play with kids.

It looks like something I would have loved back when people came over to my house regularly and I'll get it soon. That said one thing I always wished for if they did a modern or near modern setting Sunset Riders time game was a couple of characters with full auto weapons by default. Give them smaller bullets and maybe less damage with the auto fire upgrade boosting their rate of fire to turbo. As it is I suspect I'll be using nothing but the Shotgun wielders just like I do in Sunset Riders.
